Not Your Typical Beta (Karlnap Omegaverse)

Notes

As the title says this is omegaverse, if you aren't comfortable, please don't read this. If I see comments complaining about it being omegaverse, or whining about why it is omegaverse, I will perm mute you. I will not tolerate hate or any negativity towards me or any readers.

Also, this will be Karlnap not Karlnapity. Trust me I am sad as well, I love Karlnapity, but Quackity's boundaries aren't very clear so just to be on the safe side I won't include him in any romantic relationships. The story will be romantic Karlnap, and platonic Karlnapity (There's no way that I could leave Quackity out).

This is also modern AU, so most things are still the same. They are still the popular streamers we know, and the government and society work the same way. The only thing that's different is the secondary genders (in this book it will be s/a/b/o [sigma, alpha, beta, omega]). Of course, just like in many omegaverse stories, there will be prejudices and stereotypes, mainly found from people raised with traditional beliefs: like betas must be with betas; omegas with alphas; alphas are meant to be strong, dominant, and controlling; and omegas are weak and submissive.

Explaining the Ranks

For those who don't know what the ranks are I will be explaining that below. For those who want to skip, go ahead. This will not be completely accurate since I changed some things to fit my book. If you want to learn about omegaverse you should watch @ColeyDoesThings 's video "a comprehensive guide to omegaverse" on YouTube. Out of respect for the content creator I won't put a link here, so you should go check out their profile to find it.

(a)Alphas:

They are most of the time the dominant ones in relationships. They tend to have muscular builds and be strong. They go through their rut once a year in this fanfic. Their scents are stronger, sharper, and tend to be spices or natural scents. Also, they are considered to be the stereotypical top of the social hierarchy. Can take rut suppressants. Some are born with an ability called "Alpha Voice", which can work on some betas but works on all omegas, that allows them to control/ force someone to do their bidding, just doesn't work on alphas.

Also, most of the time, even in modern society, alphas are the ones who are in positions of power (Ex. Gov officials/politicians, CEO/owner of major companies, famous actors or sports players).

(b)Betas:

They are the middle class (has nothing to do with economic situation, just social), and have calming and balancing scents. Their scent isn't very strong. Normally will submit to alphas (ex. won't argue when an alpha tells them to do something). Typically date other betas. Don't have heats or ruts.

(o)Omegas:

Stereotypically submissive, breedable, weak, and are the bottom of the social hierarchy. Can take heat suppressants. They go through heat once a month in this fic. Some have positions next to people with power, since prejudice still runs deep, especially among the wealthy and those in power, who believe that omegas are meant to do alpha's bidding, and they restrict omegas from getting higher positions.

(s)Sigmas:

Since no one has actually designated how sigmas are, I have taken the liberty to describe them in a way that fits my book. In my book they are the rarest of all ranks, and they are basically like alphas except they are stronger and can beat an alpha in a fight. Like alphas they go through a rut.

If a sigma does openly say that they are a sigma they may be shunned or seen as weird, so they typically refrain from doing so. They will disguise themselves as alphas by taking scent suppressors and covering themselves in alpha-pheromone scented perfumes. There have only been a recorded six sigmas in the last millennium, and since they are so rare two sigmas have never existed at the same time. Also, because they aren't alphas, they won't experience the same attraction to omegas, and they can be antisocial towards new people, not liking the presence of strangers, or only wanting to be around those they deem part of their 'family pack'.

In my story, they are sometimes referred to as shifters, because they are the only ones out of the four ranks that can shift into a wolf form.

Wolf form: only sigmas can do this; when they turn into a wolf

Half form: they still have a human body, they just have wolf ears, a tail, retractable claws, and sharper senses

Heat/rut suppressants- normally in the form of pills; can be taken to stop a heat or rut, however long-term use can damage fertility and/or could make user very sick

Pheromones- scents released through the scent glands; change based on emotions, bitter when upset, sweet/pleasant when happy, more pungent when having strong emotions especially negative ones

In my book, since they're now in modern times, omegas have a lot more rights and most stereotypes are frowned upon, but obviously there will always be some dumb person that still has the traditional way of thinking.

Ace- sigma, cinnamon and nutmeg

Dream- alpha, pinewood

Sapnap- alpha, ash and cedarwood

Travis- alpha, beer and tar (I know that sounds weird, but it's meant to be unpleasant)

Calen- alpha, cloves

Ann- alpha, turmeric and ginger

Quackity- beta, coffee

Ava- beta, honey

Dahlia- beta, tap water and mud (again, it's meant to be unpleasant)

Karl- _____, lavender

George- omega, vanilla

Rose- omega, roses

Jasmine- unranked (minor)*

* They get their rank/front/present at somewhere between 15-17, unless they are sigmas which present between 9&10
