Princess Rhaenyra's groans were heard around the small area where she was currently delivering her newborn child into the world. Delia stood outside the room, pacing back and forth while Cai was silently looking at his wife. "Come sit, Delia. Births can take a while, my love." Delia only ignores him and out of her thoughts, the Princess opens the door and walks in.
Upon seeing her young sister, Rhaenyra sighs in relief. "Hold my hand, my little dragon-" Rhaenyra cut herself off by pushing again. Delia was on time to grab Rhaenyra hand and let her sister grip on for dear life. The midwifes were annoyed by the interruption, but nevertheless didn't say anything.
"You're doing a fantastic job, my Rhaenyra." Delia says while smoothing down Rhaenyra hair to who instantly melts in to. "Just one more push, and you can finally meet your baby. Just take a deep breath and squeez my hand as tight as you want." Rhaenyra follows her sister instructions and starts to mimicke Delia breathing till she finally push.
"The head!" The young midwife beams in joy. Rhaenyra groans and finally does a deep push where the baby falls out of her. Delia grimaces at the sound of the blood and water falling to the floor. "A boy, Princess." The young midwife chuckles before giving Rhaenyra her baby.
Seeing Rhaenyra bright smile, lightened Delia chest up with happiness. She remembers her second pregnancy, it was harsh and difficult considering her daughter and son didn't want to come out, but thankfully Delia put pressure on her stomach and finally her children, Naela and Rhaegar came out.
"Kicking like a goat, Princess."
Delia looks down at her newborn nephew with a delighting smile. "He's gorgeous, Rhaenyra." Delia mumbles against her hair and kisses Rhaenyra forehead. "I'm proud of you my sister." But soon after the small happy moment, a midwife walks in with a solemnly expression.
"Princess." Elinda starts as she talks softly. "the Queen has requested that the child be brought to her. . . immediately."
Delia scoffs in anger. After all these years, Alicent never stopped trying to embarrassed her sister. No matter the father, her nephew's are Targaryens by their mother. They still have the blood of the Dragon flowing through their veins, and sometimes Alicent forgets that.
Delia watches her sister face fell into seriousness. The joy that she just had, has vanished into darkness. "Why?" Rhaenyra voice goes cold. Once the young midwive girl didn't answer, both the Targaryen sisters already knew. It is for Alicent to find out if Rhaenyra baby is a bastard. Rhaenyra starts to get up and groans in pain. Delia looks at her sister like she was crazy. "I'll take him myself." Rhaenyra says.
"You should remain abed, Princess-" the old man started to say but Rhaenyra cut her off within a snap of aggravation.
"Yes, I should!" Rhaenyra snaps at the lady, before reaching for Delia hand again in comfort. "Help me dress." She orders the midwives. "Maybe they're right, Rhae. You should stay abed." Delia says, worry lacing her voice. Rhaenyra groans and starts to inhale and exhale. "Just help me, my little dragon, please." Rhaenyra looks deep into Delia eyes, almost asking her to help her. To which Delia does.
The midwives tries to take off Rhaenyra dress but the newborn baby was in the way. "Princess. . . your dress." The young girl smiles at Rhaenyra and the baby. Immediately Rhaenyra hands Joffrey to Delia who grabs him with ease. She cradles the baby to her chest, bringing comfort to the newborn.
The baby starts to fuss in Delia arms when one of the midwives ties a black tiny ribbon on his umbilical cord and cuts half of it, leaving a stump back. Delia rocks him back and forth softly as they hear Rhaenyra softly shushing him. When they put the new dress on Rhaenyra, she shakes her head rapidly. "Mmmh. Mmmh. Mmmh." Rhaenyra groans leaning forward and down. "It's coming!"
