Giving Danny one last kiss, I turned and strolled up the the door, wishing I didn't have a test to study for. Danny had offered to stay and help, but I refused knowing that if that had happened nothing would've gotten done.

"That's all the sugar I get tonight?" Danny yelled, grinning when I turned around. He looked mesmerizing, with his dark blue eyes and shaggy brown hair, I couldn't help going back for one more kiss goodnight, knowing I'd probably be giving him more than one kiss.

"Danny let's get this show on the road, I know I like being late but not this late." I heard Jesse, Danny's best friend, yell from where he was sitting in his truck. "The party is likely to be over by the time we arrive." Groaning, I pulled back, knowing Danny would just ignore Jesse, and I didn't want to hear all of Jesse's snarky remarks. Sticking my tongue out at Jesse, I gave Danny one last lingering kiss, then opened the door to walk inside when I heard my name called again.

I glanced back, knowing if I went back for more Jesse would not be able to have a boys night tonight. "I love you." Danny said, showing his dimples in the grin I know I'll never get tired of.

"Not near as much as I love you," I said and it was true. Danny was it for me, I can't imagine living life without him and I couldn't wait until we could start our own life together.

Danny jumped into Jesse's truck shaking his head, yelling, "You know that's impossible sweetheart."

Jesse didn't waste any time mashing on the gas and I was left looked at the taillights grow farther and farther away.

Once I got to my room, my roommate and best friend Alexis, sat up on the couch with a surprised look on her face. "No Danny tonight? Doesn't he leave for a baseball game tomorrow?"

I nodded my head, "He does, but Jesse wanted him to go to a party with him tonight. He thinks Danny needs a night of fun, which I agreed cause I really need to study for that bio test tomorrow." An understanding look came on her face as she nodded. I told her goodnight, not planning on coming back out of my room tonight and started thinking about the baseball game coming up.

This would be Danny and Jesse's last game in the regular season and playing college ball, they are both set to go pro and I couldn't be more prouder, knowing that two of the most important guys in my life were finally getting to live their dreams.

It's was later that night, long after I had fallen asleep, that I was woken to the sound of a frantic beating on the door. I jumped up and looked at the time. It was 4:30?! I swung the door open wanting to give the people a good ass chewing, but all the words that I had planned to spew were replaced with worry when I opened the door to see Jesse. I couldn't explain the way his grey eyes looked, bloodshot and filled with tears, his blonde hair sticking up all over the place, like he'd ran his hands through it too many times.

"Jesse? What's going on? Where's Danny?" I questioned. I had a feeling I wasn't going to like the answer, and when he started sobbing at Danny's name I realized that obviously something bad has happened.

"He's gone, Jacey. Danny was killed in a car accident. He's gone."

My world stopped turning. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't hear. I was paralyzed. Jesse's words kept repeating in my head.

Danny's gone.

He's gone.

I felt someone's arms come around me but I couldn't focus on what was happening around me. I felt someone start to shake me, my eyes blurry until they came back to focus. I could finally hear what was being said and see what was happening.

Alexis was standing in front of me, tears falling from her eyes and I realized she was the one shaking me.

"Jacey! Snap out of it. You need to breathe. Come on, take deep breaths. In and out, in and out."

Once I started breathing properly, I felt Jesse's words hit me deep. I let out a gut wrenching sob and fell to the floor. My heart was gone. My heart was gone the minute I laid eyes on Danny, but now it was gone gone. I couldn't explain the pain that coursed through my body, knowing that I will never see Danny's heart stopping eyes, never get to hear him tell me how much he loves me again.

He's gone.
