"Mm..."

The moment he opened his eyes and met a familiar ceiling, he immediately figured out that he was back in the past. He raised his hands and scoffed at how small he currently was.

"A child."

6? or 8? 10? How old is he now?

There were a couple of knocks before the door opened. His reddish-brown eyes blinked several times to adjust the lights and try to focus on the tall figure who just walked into the room.

He stared blankly as the man moved toward the bed he lays on, "...Ron?" His voice cracked and came out almost whisper-like.

"Good morning, Young master. I see that you woke up early today. Shall I prepare a warm bath for you right away?"

Cale quietly let his gaze stay on his butler's face for a couple more seconds before nodding his head briefly, "Yes, go ahead."

He again eyed the back of the older man who retreated toward the bathroom with enough longing feels before sighing in silence.

Ah, this is really the past? It feels surreal. Or is all this a dream?

Cale tried to recall the being who offered him a deal while waiting for Ron to prepare his bath. Strangely, he has no recollection of it other than that being will allow him to regress.

Which he is right now.

He feels iffy that he had forgotten about their agreement because he certainly knows there's nothing free in this world. That being, Cale assumed that they are a God.

"My head…hurts."

He pondered any possible favour that God had requested in exchange for regressing him far into the past.

Alright, let's think about that later.

"Has Father called me?" Cale fixed his gaze on his reflection in the mirror in front of him. He does seem to be eight years old. His red hair is neatly styled. Even his clothes were as luxurious as he remembered.

If his guess was correct, today was the day he would meet his stepfamily.

Strange. Everything feels like a dream. Is it okay to feel this way?

He felt odd in his own skin. But he also felt relieved.

"...ter?"

"-Young master?"

An audible voice from Ron jolted him out of his reverie, "Y-yes, Ron?" he replied, unaware of his timid tone.

"Young master, I apologize for startling you. However, this Ron has referred to Young master several times. The Count would like to meet you downstairs," Ron bowed slightly, his trademark benign smile on his face. If Cale didn't pay attention enough, he'd missed the butler's gentle gaze with concern directed at him.

Cale averted his gaze from the mirror, avoiding Ron's piercing eyes, which he knew were observing him.

"Sorry, I guess I'm still sleepy. The Co—Father wants to meet me, and?" Cale took a deep breath, carefully waiting for any other news to leave Ron's lips regarding his father's homecoming.

He could see how those usual sharp eyes looked hesitant before giving him a reply, "It seems the Count brings two more individuals with him, Young master."

He inwardly let out a sigh, mentally holding himself from smiling. So, he nodded his head instead. He didn't know what expression he left on his face— but Ron's eyes turned vicious for a moment.
