My Forest Nightmare

Meeting Rachel

It's been a year since Nathan first took me from the forest and things were going pretty well. I have been in trouble a few times though, which is never fun but it was only for minor things aka me 'talking with attitude' and the usual me trying to get out of things so punishments weren't that bad; still hurt though.

10 months ago I made a deal with Nathan which worked out awesomely. It took 9 months but finally I got an iPad so I have something to do while Nath is at work. The deal was that instead of getting a movie every 2 months for good behaviour, I could work up to an iPad which I managed to do YAY! And as a bonus every month I have good behaviour I get a new song or app of my choice. All Nath's songs are freebies which I guess it's pretty obvious as to why. The only downside is that he monitors everything I do on a daily basis and the tiniest slip up could mean I lose it; small price to pay though am I right?

It was a normal day; Nathan went to work and I was left alone for the day. I was up in my room playing 'Crazy Taxi' and heard a door open and close. I ignored it thinking it was just my imagination and continued my game.

"Alysha I'm home. Can you come here please?"

"Huh? Nathan's home?! But it's only 2:30!?" I got up from the bed and ran down the stairs. "Where are you Nathan?"

"Lounge Room"

I walked into the lounge room and froze in place. There was a girl with him. I looked from the girl to Nath and back to the girl.

"Alysha this is Rachel" He said as he gestured to the lady standing next to him.

"Hi Alysha"

"Hi" I said slowly. Something about her... I didn't like it, something just didn't seem right. "Anyway nice meeting you but I think I'm going to go now, bye!" As soon as the words leave my mouth I make a quick exit out of the room.

"Alysha come back here" I groaned and turned around.

"Nath can't I just go back to my room?"

"No. And besides I thought you wanted to meet Rachel?"

"Well yeah but-"

"But nothing, sit down"

I flopped down on the couch and sighed. Rachel and Nathan sat down and we all started talking; it was mainly Rachel asking me a heap of questions. A while later Nath left to get drinks which left me and Rachel alone.

"So Alysha what was your family like? Did you have any brothers or sisters?"

'WHY THE HELL WOULD SHE EVEN ASK THAT?! WHY WOULD SHE CARE?! WHY DOES SHE WANT TO KNOW?! WHAT KIND OF QUESTION EVEN IS THAT?! I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE WOULD EVEN THINK OF BRINGING UP MY FAMILY!'

I was shocked by her question. I stayed quiet, staring at her.

"So... are you going to answer me?"

"No! You have no right to ask about my family! It's none of your business!"
"Alysha it's a simple ques-" I didn't want to hear it and cut her off.

"But why would you even think of asking me that?! YOU KNOW I WAS TAKEN FROM THEM SO WHY ASK ME THAT?! IT'S THE STUPIDEST QUESTION I HAVE EVER HEARD! You can't just expect me to answer that! Why would you even think that I would share something like that with you?! We met 2 hours ago! And you ask me about my family?! I-"

"Hey what's going on!? I leave the room for less than 5 minutes and you're yelling at Rachel!" Nath came back in the room with his canines slightly sharpened and his eyes a little darker than usual. He didn't look happy. I ran from the room before I did anything stupid and got myself into more trouble. I knew that running probably wasn't the best idea but if I didn't leave, chances are that I'd end up losing it and yell at Nathan. That would get me into some serious trouble, with a severe punishment; something that I want to totally avoid.
