Notes before we begin. Mission: NYX will be using honorifics in Filipino. Ace try not to write Filipino fantasy challenge (she fails). The translation will be provided in the preface. Furthermore, any other recurring Filipino words will be added here, so you'll be familiar with them before you begin.
Ate (a-te) - An honorific in Filipino that means "older sister/lady that is older than me." It is used to refer to women that are older than the speaker, but not around their parents' age.
Kuya (koo-ya) - An honorific in Filipino that means "older brother/gentleman that is older than me". It is used to refer to men that are older than the speaker, but not around their parents' age.
Additionally, though this book is a spin-off to the Department of Unnatural Occurrences, you can read this as a standalone book. However, if you have read Codename: DEMON and Target: UNDERWORLD, please refrain from commenting about spoilers. It was the year of our lord and savior 2021. The Open Novella Contest 2021 just arrived, and I decided to join for the first time with a story called 'Three Lies, All True'. My laptop died during that time, so I was forced to write the story using my cellphone.
By some miracle, I was not only able to finish at under 30k words, but I managed to make it to the longlist. The odds and editing were against sme, but somehow I made it. It's one of the things I'm genuinely proud of, even if TLAT was rough.

I thought of expanding the story, maybe add a sequel series, but eventually I stopped and decided it was better as a standalone.
Then, everything changed when 2022 attacked.
During the Open Novella Contest 2022, I entered once again, this time with 'Codename: DEMON'. I planned to drop out of the ONC because of the Great Disaster That Was the ONC2022 (Colorized), and I thought of making Codename: DEMON a short Webtoon.
But after the Great Disaster That Was the ONC2022 (Colorized) was dealt with, I decided I should enter. I realized that the characters had more depth to them than the characters in TLAT, but they weren't given that much screentime because of the limitations of a novella. So I thought, "After this, I'm gonna make an anthology prequel and then go back to working on my main project."
One week after the shortlist for the ONC2022 was released and I realized I didn't make it, I published the sequel.
And the Department of Unnatural Occurrences has ruined my life ever since.

Anyway, Open Novella Contest Two Thousand and Twenty-Three! I have decided once again to make an entry about the Department of Unnatural Occurrences! As always, every artwork in this book is made by yours truly. I don't like my artworks being posted by anyone else that isn't me, so don't do that. There is no please. Just don't. Stop it.
