17: COMPROMISES

William's mansion,

Super nervous Hazel was sitting at the large dining table under a huge Chandelier, facing the triplets while sitting beside Ian and his parents.

Ian's parents directly asked about the engagement and Williams' were now staring at Hazel.

She had to drink six glasses of water as her throat kept getting dry under their gazes.

Edwin was looking at her cutting fish in his plate aggressively.

She turned her gaze towards Reed to see him resting his elbows on the table in front of him with intertwined fingers under his chin  and eyebrow raised giving "what's this?" Look.

Now Xaden. The jaw was clenched, eyes were bloodshot, feet were tapped with anger, and the back was resting against the chair. His eyes were moving left to right. His hands were resting on his thighs loosely. He was moving the stone ring on his finger in a circular motion.

The twin and their wives were also there smiling awkwardly at the guests.

" I-" Won began but got interrupted by a housemaid who seemed in hurry. She looked around then bent a little near Tan.

" Sir, some copes are at the door, asking about Xaden sir." She whispered.

" For what?" Tan asked. " Did something happen in my absence?"

" No, Sir. I don't know what is it about." She answered honestly.

Tan gave her a nod and excused himself from everyone before towards the main door to see what was the matter.

Around seven cops were standing there. Tan shook hands with the one who was a step ahead of the others and had rolled up papers in his hands.

" We are told to bring Mr. Xaden to the station for some investigation." The officer said unfolding the papers and handing that to Tan.

Tan looked down at the papers to read about the incident that happened in the hotel. As the hotel was full of guests that night someone wrote some stupid articles about William. No wonder people want to drag down whoever tops.

" Call Xaden." Tan said to a worker who went inside but along with Xaden, everyone came to see what was happening because of the presence of police.

Xaden peeked at the papers in his father's hands.

It was not the first time anyone is at their door complaining about Xaden. There used to be injured kids, and their parents but never the cops.

" You can take him with you." Tan said in a whisper. His head bowed which didn't go unnoticed by Xaden. " Reed, come with me." He added half facing him.

Reed gave him a nod.

Edwin insisted to go with them too but Tan told him to take care of the guests.

Cops took Xaden with them while Reed and Tan made their way to the station in Reed's car. Reed glanced at his father from time to time as he was sitting beside him and eyes were fixed on the police car's siren ahead of them. The silence Tan was sharing scared Reed and the fear was visible on his face.

" Who was that girl?" Tan asked.

" She's Edwin's secretary's cousin. She's sightless. There wasn't anyone to leave her with so we had to take Alice- I-I mean that gi-girl with us. We left the hotel for a meeting that night and that girl under Xaden's supervision but when we got back she was drowning." Reed shattered badly while explaining.
