Montana Bennett is just going through the motions. He's doing everything he's supposed to be doing - graduating summa cum laude from Notre Dame, working at a Big 4 accounting firm in Chicago, going home on the weekends to have dinner with his mom - but that's all he's doing. After his best friend's love life collapses, Montana takes it upon himself to fix it, despite being pathetically emotionally unavailable himself.

After Montana rescues Jed from another seemingly disastrous date, the seemingly disastrous girl from said date keeps popping up at random functions in Montana's social life. Suddenly she's a fixture there, and Montana isn't sure how he feels about it.

Kiernan Grey wasn't supposed to end up in Chicago. After completing her postgraduate degree at Yale, Kiernan had big plans to move in DC with her friends and fight her way up the political hierarchy, but an unexpected job offer as a speech writer for an aspiring Illinois senator sends Kiernan all the way to Chicago alone.

She's fine thinking that she's better off on her own until her new friend from the campaign insists on setting her up with a friend from college. The date ends in disaster, and to add to Kiernan's misfortune, she's sucked into this new friend group, for better or for worse. Montana Bennett might be for worse.

Keirnan and Montana aren't looking for complicated in their Chicago summer, but somehow complicated has found them...

━ hi so me and w1ldflow3r were on facetime the other day talking about something completely unrelated when somehow we landed on the topic of onc and that neither of us have ever participated. we browsed the prompts with no intention of actually doing something, then somehow a few hours later we had an idea dump sheet doc and a whole chapter written. now here we are. we have since removed ourselves from ONC when we realized this was much better suited as a full length novel.
