PART 1: FALLEN FAITH
CHAPTER: 2 (2) --"Wildkit, come on! This is so fun!" I call to him, jumping into the soft, cold white. "Okay!" He shouts back, stepping out from under the branches of our den.
He stumbles down the little hill our den is on and falls into the white, which I have learned is called snow, and lands in front of my paws.
"Wildkit!" I shout, chuckling as I help him up. "Be careful, you two!" My mother yells from the den, watching over us to make sure we don't injure ourselves. "I, uhh...I meant to do that," he says, obviously embarrassed as he tries to shake the snow from his pelt.
"Isn't this awesome! Look at all of this! I can't believe this was here!" I shout, looking all around me. I see some other cats in the distance, but they seem quite busy. Other dens are all around us, and I wonder who lives in there. Best to find out later. I stare up at the trees above us that's covered in the cold white, and take in all the new and beautiful scenery.
I'm shaken from my thoughts when I hear another cat meow from behind me, and feel them pounce onto me and push me face-first into the snow. "Mphphh!" Is the only thing I can say. I feel the body hop off of me and meow and apology.
"Hah, sorry if I hurt you, Strongkit." I look up from the snow and see Goldenkit, licking her white paw and rubbing it against her goldish face, eyes closed. After a second, she stops and glances down at me, grinning.
"Do you and Wildkit wanna see something cool?" She asks us, her light brown eyes wide with excitement. "Yeah!" Wildkit shouts while jumping into the frosty air.
Goldenkit speeds off in the other direction, and Wildkit and I sprint to catch up with her. She hops into a bush, and we follow her actions. She shushes us, then tells us to hide here. Wildkit and I both nod in agreement.
Goldenkit raises her head slightly and peeks out from the bush, scanning the whole area for a few moments. "Okay. The coast is clear. Follow me," she meows to us, then slowly creeps out from behind the bush.
Wildkit and I do the same and pass through other tall branches, until we look out to see trees and white going on forever. "Wow," I hear Wildkit whisper beside me. "Are we outside of the camp?" I ask, turning to Goldenkit. "Yeah, isn't it awesome! Look at all of this space! Why don't we live out here?" She responds.
We all stare out into the forest, the sun shining above the trees. It is very pretty... I hear an unknown cat clear his throat from behind us, and all three of us turn our heads to stare at him.
I slowly look up to stare at the tall orange cat staring angrily down at us. "Because that isn't our camp. Half of it isn't even our territory." His dark brown eyes look at the land beyond us, then glances back at us. "And it's dangerous. Especially for you kits, who shouldn't even be out here. You three don't even know what I'm talking about."
W-what...?!? "But Dad!" Goldenkit yells, approaching her father. "We just wanted to see all the snow!" "No," her father says. "I'm taking you back to the nursery," he says, lifting Goldenkit off the ground carefully and gently with his teeth, and carries her off back into the camp.
A black cat comes out the same way we did, and when she opens her purple eyes, I realize it is my step-sister. "Oh, h-hello big step-sister!" I say to her, smiling big, and Wildkit does the same. "Yeah. Don't call me that," she says, and walks by us without even looking at us once.
