"Seriously Mikey, why are we here? And Cemetery Drive of all places?"
"Oh come on princess, are the graveyards too dirty for you?"
"I'm just asking. Look I know you want me to feel better about my break up with Marco, but getting be drunk in the graveyards probably won't help."
"You need to have a little fun and let go of your problems. It's only for a night princess," he said as he led me through the sea of graves into a small building. "And if you must know, we're here to hang out in my family's vault."
"Mikey, this place really gives me the creeps. I don't think we should be here. Isn't it disrespectful to, I don't know, your ancestors?"
"Relax Riley, this place has been completely empty of dead bodies for years."
The vault was about 20 feet by 25 feet, in a rectangular shape. It was almost pitch black, except for the light that came from the candles that Mikey lit. He pulled out a glass of whiskey and two shot glasses from his bag and set them on the ground.
"Let's sit," he said as the opened the glass bottle, spilling some on his hands. "We should play a drinking game. I know, how about we could name the things that bitch face hated about you."
"Do we get shots for everything he hated?"
"Well princess, we've got a whole bottle of whiskey."
"I'll go first. He hated they way I dressed. He hated my punk style and said I could do better. 'Because I was too pretty to dress that way.'"
Mikey took a shot.
"He hated how you listened to music a little too loud."
I giggled as I took the shot.
"He hated how messy I kept my apartment."
He laughed as poured the glass and took his shot.
"Well he hated that dress you were wearing for sure."
"Totally!" I agreed while laughing as he poured me another drink.
"He hated that I had band practice ever Monday, Wednesday, and Friday."
He took another shot.
"Oh! He hated how you'd spend your money on tattoos and piercings."
I took a shot.
"He hated that I never showed my affection for him."
He nodded as he took poured then drank the shot.
"He hated that we were friends."
Silence. He took the bottle of whiskey and drank straight for the bottle.
"He didn't hate you Mikey."
"You never saw the way he looked at me. You noticed the way he spoke to me."
Silence.
"Why the hell do you care what he thought? He was a fucking loser! Fuck him!"
"Because princess, he was your boyfriend! And because of that, I have to like him! because you're my best friend!"
Silence.
"You should have told me earlier." I responded quietly. "I could've dumped his stupid ass. Just tell me next time."
He took another sip of the whiskey.
"I don't want there to be a next time," He mumbled.
He took another drink.
"What did you just say?"
He reached down to grab another sip from the bottle, but I grabbed the glass before him and threw it against the mausoleum wall.
"Goddamn it Mikey why the fuck are we here? Why do you want me drunk? What do you really want?"
"Because I love you Riley! And we could never go back to the way things were! Goddamn it I just love you so fucking much," he said as he took a step towards me. "I want to hold you and never let you go!"
"Dammit Mikey! We fucked one time! That was it!" I said stepping backwards. "You told me it was nothing! Why tell me now!"
"Of course I told you it meant nothing! You were still dating that shit that was Marco! You never were going to leave him and I wasn't gonna be worth your time! Was I just supposed to say, 'hey Riley, you know how we fucked while you were in a committed relationship? Yeah I have feelings for you.'"
"So this is how you feel."
Silence.
We were standing so close together. So I kissed him. He tasted like whiskey and cinnamon.
"I'm sorry," he said, pulling away. "I can't do this. You're drunk, I'm drunk, and you just came out of a relationship. I can't do this if it's a one time thing."
"You think I'd do this if I didn't mean it? We fucked when I was technically still with Marco, even if it was after a big fight. You're more worried about this?"
More silence.
"I'm sorry Mikey," I say as a back away to the door, "I-I-I just have to go."
I miss you, I miss you so far, And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard
