MICHIKATSU is not in love. He's not.

Sure, his brain seems to abandon all train of logical thought whenever Douma's name is mentioned.

Sure, he stares at him as he walks down the hall surrounded by people of the same social standing as himself, but everyone with eyes does that (and if Michikatsu's eyes linger on him for a bit longer after everyone has resumed their normal conversations, that's his own business).

Sure, his stomach twists itself into knots that are more loopy and complicated than any of Muzan's complex science experiments or Tamayo's thoughts about flowers whenever he even thinks about interacting with the blonde.

He's still not in love.

Besides, he knows someone like Douma would never waste his breath on someone like him—far too serious, much too quiet, too stoic for his own good.

Douma is an overly-enthusiastic individual, with a bubbly personality that, if it were anyone else, would be annoying, and a metaphorical trail of rainbows following him wherever he goes and eyes to match. He's loud, flamboyant and absolutely stunning in all of his glory.

And he has never spared Michikatsu Tsugikuni a single glance.

"Michikatsu?" inquires a voice startlingly similar to his own, somewhere off to his right.

Michikatsu looks over his shoulder to find his younger twin brother, Yoriichi (who, contrary to Michi, has interacted with Douma plenty of times) watching him intently.

Michikatsu hums in acknowledgment, prompting Yoriichi to repeat his statement. He does so with a flat look: "I asked if you were coming to the library with us to study for our history test."

The aforementioned "us" would be Yoriichi, Uta, Tamayo and Muzan, Michikatsu assumes.

"Oh," he says intelligently, "Sure, I'll meet you there. I still have one last class..."

He trails off and Yoriichi looks almost awkward, nodding stiffly.
"Alright, I'll just be.. at the library if you need me. See you soon, brother."

"See you," he echoes lamely.

Talking to Yoriichi has been difficult for him ever since it became apparent that no matter how hard he tried, Michikatsu would never surpass him. He knew he was doomed to be a second choice to his younger brother for the rest of his life, but the sad part is, he doesn't even blame people for it: he'd choose Yoriichi over himself any day.

He pushes the thought from his mind and begins the long journey to his last stop before the library: his favorite class, history.

Michikatsu likes history because it is solid; the events of the centuries prior cannot be changed or swayed. Whatever happened in the past is set in stone, unwavering in the face of evolution. Lately, however, that isn't the only reason he likes history.

Currently, in his history class, he's being taught about the extermination of the Demon race by the 'Demon Slayer Corps,' and the whole unit could not be more familiar to Michikatsu. He doesn't know why, particularly, but he knows nearly everything about it even leaves his teacher's mouth. He's acing the whole unit.

(He thinks he would be even prouder than he already is if Yoriichi wasn't acing it too).

Michikatsu is a punctual student, so he's early for his class, and returns his teacher's greeting with a small wave and a mumbled "good afternoon."
