Gabriel startled me awake. Woozy, from travelling for what felt like days, I could barely keep my eyes open. I turned to Gabriel with a questioning look. He grabbed my hand, furthering it towards his lips so he could kiss it. His touch was so soft. He turned my head gently, directing me to look out of the window. I rubbed my eyes, not caring that I had smudged my eye makeup. Keeping my head upright, I looked out of the window to see the most exquisite skyscraper building, with large windows. "Welcome to our new home baby-girl" Gabriel teased. I gave him a childish smile. I could barely see, I hadn't even let my eyes adjust to the sun light.
After struggling to get our bags from the car, we had finally approached the tall skyscraper what stood before us. Tilting my head to look up at the gorgeous view, my eyes switched to a sign above the automatic doors. In metallic lettering, it read "Grayson Accommodations". I'd heard a lot about this man, Jonah Grayson. He was known best for his drop dead good looks and his high power, and now I will be working for him, plus living in one of his apartment buildings. "Oh great", I thought.
Me and Gabriel finally reached the 59th floor. Stepping out of the elevator into a long corridor with at least 30 apartment doors all evenly spaced, mirroring each other on either side of the corridor. The walls were bright white with hand painted, framed photos of New York City placed along the wall. From the ceiling hung the most beautiful chandeliers, E laced with crystals. It was amazing. I felt like a celebrity.
Each door was numbered, ours was the first door, so it was labelled with a number one. The door was tall and wide, wooden and coated with silver gloss paint to match the silver carpet in the building corridor. Still too tired from our hours of travelling, I lifted my hand towards the lock with the key. I was trembling with excitement knowing that our new home would be beyond this door. Laughing at me, Gabe took the key from my hand. "Gosh Blake, today would be great. Let me open the door" he rolled his eyes.Taking the key and unlocking the door, Gabriel pushed it open gently. He lead me into our new room, I followed him. He reached out to the left of him, and flicked on the light switch. A row of ceiling lights with glass lampshades sprung light across the room. Beneath us was a soft cream tile flooring, leading into our apartment. The cream tiling continued down the short hall that we followed, directing us into our apartment. Gabriel slumped his arm round his shoulder, as he was a lot taller than me, my head rested under his armpit. Just a few more steps away from seeing our new home.
It was awesome, even at first glance. So modern and so chic. Looking to the left of us, we saw marble steps that carried on up to what was obviously our new kitchen. It had a black marble counter with brushed, silver appliances. It gave a mix of wealth and luxury. It had, what looked super expensive, kitchen utensils and a classic matte silver fridge, with a water and ice dispenser attached. I was in awe, and this was only the kitchen. A few meters away from the kitchen was a small living area. There stood a wooden coffee table, with a layer of glass on top. The centrepiece was a tall candle, held by a metal which was engraved with floral printing. It completed the look. Under neath the coffee table lay a flawless Persian rug, black with lace trimmings. On either side of the lovely coffee table sat two, two seater sofas, leather and also black with reclining seats. A 42 inch plasma stood on a glass stand on the far side of the coffee table, just in front of the back wall. It was perfect.
Surrounding us, a beautiful view of the city skyline which we could see out of our floor to ceiling windows. New York was extraordinary at night. The lights from the buildings looked like florescent stars, creating beams of light. I watched Gabriel as he stood in awe too, his gaze was perfect as he looked out into the City.
After leaving our luggage in the door way, we found our bedrooms. I felt too lazy to even find my pyjamas. I was exhausted. Gabriel and I walked past the living area, into a corridor which came to a short end, with a bedroom door on either side. We were about to see where we would be sleeping, permanently. If the rooms are just as nice as the rest of our apartment, then I could not complain. I picked the door on the left, which left Gabriel with the one on the right. After saying goodnight, we both headed into our rooms.
Opening the door to my new bedroom, I glanced around. In the centre of the back wall stood a double bed, with a beige coloured bedspread, matching the carpet beneath me. Next to it stood a wooden bedside table, with a metal lamp which also had a beige lampshade, twinning my bed and carpet. To the left, was a walk-in closet, I did not dare to look inside as I was way too tired. On the far right of the room was a dressing table, that's where I'd be doing my make up. Underneath there was a short stool for me to sit and look in the mirror. Next to the dresser was a door that lead to my ensuite bathroom. I was also too tired to look. So I took off my clothes which I'd travelled in all day, and decided I would sleep in my underwear. The air was warm, so I didn't even need to mess up the neatly made bed by getting under the sheets. I was ready for my head to hit the pillow, so that's exactly what I did. I threw my clothes into a rumpled pile on the floor, and I climbed onto my bed, ready for a few hours of sleep before my big day tomorrow.
