Riley walked down the narrow way through the rather huge rocks at the Brick, holding her best friends hand during the process, as Chloe was too clumsy to walk down on her own, without ending up breaking her leg. Which already did happen, several times, even, but Riley promised not to mention that ever again, after the third and hopefully last time.

They were both rather dressed up, as much as the Brick allowed them, of course.

High heels, or anything other than sneakers wasn't really working down there, as you, after all, had to climb up and down each time. Skirts weren't really recommended either, so Riley went with shorts and a long sleeved plain shirt this time. She didn't really want to be overdressed, as she didn't want Marquez to think she cared much about their little get-together.

Well, actually, she did not even care all that much about it. It was just a typical thing for her.

"Hey, Riley." The brunette heard a heavy accent behind her, as soon as she climed down the rocks and finally reached the Brick.

The Brick was something like a little beach on the lake, where high school students from her hometown went to, ever since anyone can remember. Even her mom and dad, and probably also her grandparents met up with their friends here, while they were in senior year.

It was just the place to be, and not anyone could actually go there, but that was a lowkey rule. No one really spoke it out loud, but if anyone, who wasn't part of something important, or friends with someone important, would show up here, it would be a big deal.

Riley knew how shallow that was, but she was actually glad for being on top of the high school food chain. She could not imagine how bad it must be for somebody not to have half of the school pile after you. Which was also shallow, Riley was aware, but a little popularity would not hurt anyone, right?

"Oh, hi." She exclaimed, giving Marquez a bright smile, as she stepped closer to him.

"I see, you are doing a pretty good job with making sure that I am settling in. Even showing up at the Brick." He let out a slight laugh, after his voice toned up, the accent mixed into it again. Riley had to admit, she thought that the whole accent thing was cute at first, but now it was just starting to seem forced. But she did not comment on it, as she was rather fond of him. Not as much as she wished to be, but maybe that would come after a certain time of getting to know him. Riley hoped so.

"Well, what can I say, I'm quite concerned with the well-being of everyone of my classmates." Riley's flirting would be over the top, at times, at least that was what Chloe said to her sometimes, but Riley didn't really care about that. All she wanted was to finally fall for someone, and that didn't come out of nowhere, after all, one would have to work for it, to make it happen.

The evening at the Brick was rather eventful, but then again, it was eventful every evening. Someone was making out with someone, that they doubtfully even knew all that well, but who was Riley to judge, right? Someone else thought that skinny dipping would be the most fun they would ever have, and in the end they would complain about getting bruises and cuts from the stones in the water, blaming someone else for forcing them to go, although it was their idea since the beginning, but no one chose to point that out. Someone else chose to have too much to drink, more than they could handle, and end up passing out in someone elses car. God knew how a drunk person even managed to climb up the Brick again. Other people chose to dance, although they couldn't even walk straight from all the alcohol they have had.

And then there were people like Riley, who would rather sit and talk to somebody, than do any of those things above.

"So, since when do you play soccer?" The brunette asked, fiddeling with one of her bracelets she had around her arm, as she looked at Marquez, who was sitting to her right.
