We went back to the table and another night mare had arisen.
"Tristan," that blonde girl I despised from the day I first saw her here in Miami cheerily said. She stood to hug him but he instead gave her a hand shake and I snickered.
"Oh my! Nina you look dazzling; only thing you're missing is the savoir faire for this soiree," she said.
"You're in my chair," I softly said.
"But daddy told me to sit here meaning you can cross over," this piece of sh-
"Or we could go dance," Tristan suggested and we hit the dance floor with a mocking smile to Erisah; one thing that scared me is she didn't budge, she just smiled back and not the kind of smile normal person would have, hers was sinister; the Harley Quinn/Cruella kind. I got the jitters but ignored it.
We danced to 'Mine by Bazzi' and I could feel my dying heart melt like it does when I listen to my favorite song.
How you look so precious when you smile
Hidden from the back and drive you wild
Girl I'd lose myself in those e...yes
"I just had to let you know you're mine," Tristan sang along as he twirled me. The best moments are these moments I'm living now and they just keep coming. I just enjoy the way he gazes at me with those ocean eyes. If I could close my eyes and reminisce all we've been through, I'm grateful.
After the dance, we took our seats since Erisah had gotten out of them. In those minutes before cake, Tristan introduced me to his other cousins like; Elisy & Suzy Cummings, twins who are both genetic engineers at Oxford University and Josh Norman who chose not to take the Cummings name and is an intern in St. John's Hospital; the one back in Cambridge.
I got tired of meeting new people so I went back to the table to wait for Tristan to come and take me home; I'm so tired. "Sup boo," I heard that one voice I hate.
"You're so not certified to call me that," I plastered a fake smile on my face.
"(Chuckles) you think you're funny but wait until you find out the behind the scenes of your little fling with Tristan," she proudly said. Ok she may be speaking sense.
"What do you mean?" I seriously asked.
"Why do you think Tristan's dad called him a literati and shipped you with Travis?" ok realization has started hitting me.
"I-I'm confused," why am I sensing some weird tension around me.
"I want you to look deeper into Tristan's, Trish's, Esther's and Travis' actions and try to integrate," why is she being nice to me now? I stood up and went to look for Tristan; I direly needed to talk to him. I looked for five minutes but couldn't find Tristan, Trish or even Travis. I tried even upstairs and as I was going past some room, I heard voices.
"Look, we either end it or we go down with it," I heard Trish's voice saying.
"But you realize we're going to suffer colossal consequences after we tell her,"
"Your dad already spilt some of the beans and now we have to come clean, we can't hide in the shadows forever,"
"(Groans) why did we agree to help Mandy in the first place? Well she was my girl friend by then but what reason do you give?" ok this has got to stop. I opened the door and startled them.
"How long have you been there?" Trish asked.
"Long enough to know that you two are hiding something," I sternly said. They looked at each other and Trish shook her head in refusal but Tristan nodded; (cursed are those who didn't study sign language).
