The coffee shop was packed. I was trying to sit and do my homework but the noise was overpowering. I slipped my laptop into my bag and grabbed my cell phone. Siri told me I had a notification. A tag in a video. I watched a portion of the video, but my phone was lagging and I couldn't do anything. I ran home and plugged in my laptop. I logged onto Facebook and searched for the video. When I found it, the link wasn't to Youtube but some site dedicated to this one video. I clicked play and watched the minute clip. For about 10 seconds there was a close up of my hair. I could tell because of my black blue and pink cut. Suddenly, the video shook and moved forward. The view zoomed out and the someone got closer. The last 20 seconds the sound and picture was distorted. I shared the video on Facebook and asked if anyone knew what the heck this was about. There was a short caption about the video reading, 'I'm here. Come find me.' My Facebook tab dinged and I switched tabs. Three people had commented on my post. Alex posted another link and so did Brittney. Victoria commented, "I saw some videos like this. We were talking about what happened to those people this morning." I opened the two links and watched the videos. Both were me again, but from a distance and distorted again. I commented on my post asking what happened to the other girls. My response was what I was afraid of. "Duh. They disappeared." I sighed and went back to the videos. The screen reloaded and another video appeared on the site. It was me sitting at my computer wearing the clothes I had on right this moment. My heart stopped. The same with the other videos, there was sound but it was distorted. I quickly typed in the search box. 'The sound and picture of videos are distorted but its not the camera." The list that appeared was mind boggling. 'Slenderman bro.', 'Have fun sleeping! SLENDERMAN....'. And on and on. Slenderman was my next search. 'A sharply dressed business man with no face.' He kidnaps kids all the time.' I glanced out the window. Nothing and nobody. I swiveled in my chair. I was obviously overacting. Just to be safe, I turned by webcam on and placed it so it could see the whole room. Satisfied, I sat back down and finished my homework. After I took a shower, I put on my pajamas and went to bed. I checked my laptop and set it back up. "SWEET DREAMS JESS!", my mom called. "OKAY MOM! THANKS!", I replied.

Friday came and I kept the same routine each night. Tonight though, I had a video camera set up. When it was time for bed, I set up the camera and sat down with my laptop. Tonight I was going to watch the videos I took this week. The first three were 7-8 hours of me sleeping. Thursdays was different. I remember that night. I had been having a bad dream and woke up. My light kept on all night, as usual, but it was turned off. I thought it was my mom because she says it wastes electricity. In the video, a hand had slightly opened the door and a figure came in. It moved to the light and switched it off. I could tell it was in a suit. The face was out of view, and the man moved towards the camera. That was when I woke up. I hadn't seen anything, so I got up and turned on my light and went back to bed. This was past stalking. This was, frightening, to put it gently. I laughed to myself and deleted all the videos. My brother came into my room and asked me what I thought of his new suit. I was relieved. "It looks great, Matt." I closed my laptop and laughed a creepily maniacal laugh. My mind slowly drifted off into sweet dreams. Or, as much as my brain could without that little speck of disbelief in the back corner.
Whaddya think peasants? Is it good enough to keep going? Tell me whatever, or just be like "I'M NOT A PEASANT." It's cool though, we've all been called worse. SO CALM YOURSELF.
