CHAPTER I : A New Start

Life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes, you get so caught up in its ups that you forget how to manage the downs. That is what happened to me after the accident. Up to this day, I still blame myself, not because I caused it, as many would claim, but because I was not able to do anything.

If only moving on is easy. But the shadow of the past kept on haunting me wherever I go. So much so that my parents decided to send me to my grandparents' hometown for a change of scenery.

Riiiiiiing! Riiiiiiiiing!

I sat up on my bed and tried to locate my phone. My head was spinning. I wasn't able to get a good night's sleep, thanks to the thoughts clouding my muddled brain. Finally, my hand found what I was looking for under my pillow.

It was 4 a.m. I turned the alarm off and opened my window. The cool morning breeze greeted me while I surveyed the yard to see if something is amiss. Nothing was out of place, except for a hollow burrow on the farthest plot in my garden. The dog must have dug it out. Again. I let out a sigh and proceeded to prepare.

Today is another day in my third year of high school. I better not screw it up.
