the friend who was there but never there

There was a girl who I once knew
She was just like me
And she was just like you
She had a story that she never shared
About her friend
Who was there but never there
The friend was quiet
And took up little space
He liked to 'hang' around
And buy his time
Never speaking
Never wandering why
Her friend was a noose
And her friend buyed her time
With the noose at hand
She knew she could smile
Knowing the end was soon coming
She tied her friend to the ceiling
And stood on a chair
The noose stood there hanging
Thin in the air
Soon she laughed and kicked the chair
She closed her eyes
For her end was near
Because of the friend who was there
But never there
