Post-Kingdom Hearts 3 events...
Sora had disappeared, and surely forever... A terrible reality that everyone had to face and had been deeply affected by, especially Kairi... The image of Sora gradually disappearing before her eyes still haunted her... This was the terrible price to pay when using the most powerful of magic, no matter how pure, strong and brave your heart was.
It had now been over three months since the final battle against Xehanort had taken place, and Kairi still couldn't come to terms with the truth, her usually hopeful heart bruised beyond measure. But despite the pain and grief, the young woman refused to give up, having sworn to bring Sora back, no matter the cost.
Needing some alone time to think things over, Kairi had left Yen Sid's tower and come to Twilight Town, to the Bistro that Scrooge had been open for some time. There were no crowds that day and Kairi was now alone in the establishment, sitting at the counter and gently sipping orange juice. Kairi said nothing, her gaze and her thoughts lost in the void as she gazed towards Sora's pendant which she held preciously in her hand. The sight of this object constricted her throat and she felt the tears rise... She closed her hand on the pendant and snuggled it against her heart.
_"Sora...I miss you so much..." she sighed sadly. "You saved me from death... And I swear I will do the same for you. Wherever you are I will find you, and we will be together again."
But as the young woman continued to think of a way to save Sora, the lights in the Bistro began to flicker for no reason, then went out, almost like a blackout, which surprised Kari a little at the time. She watched, the interior now shrouded in semi-darkness and utter silence. Then, she froze... Very close to her, a whistle, a slow and sinister melody, began to resonate. Kairi turned, to find with confusion that she was no longer alone. Sitting on the stool right next to her at the counter was a tall humanoid wolf, with gray fur and wearing a long black cloak with a hood. Head tilted slightly and holding a glass of alcohol in its clawed hand, the wolf continued to hiss, under the gaze of Kairi who dared not move or say a word. Immediately, Kairi sensed something strange. There was no light or darkness emanating from this guy.
_"Well, well..." the wolf suddenly spoke with a smile and turned his gaze to Kairi, showing his blood red eyes. "It isn't it Kairi, princess of heart and guardian of light, in the flesh?"
_"Hum... hello..." Kairi replied, a little uneasy.
_"I recognized you right away. Especially the hair and the outfit. My compliments to your stylist." added the wolf, still with this unhealthy smile showing his sharp and white teeth, and his gaze fixing the young woman.
_"I...well...thanks..." Kairi said still uncomfortably.
_"Oh, by the way..." asked the wolf, starting to look under his cape. "I never do this, but... Can I get your autograph? See, I've been following you for a long long time..."
With that, the wolf picked up an unfolded parchment and gently slid it across the counter towards Kairi.
_"Sign right there." then added the wolf grimly, tapping repeatedly with his claw on the single word, written in black ink, that was on the paper.
Kairi's blood froze when she saw the word in question: DEAD.
The young woman tensed, her hand gently letting go of her glass of orange juice and constantly keeping a gaze on the wolf who made no abrupt move, seeming almost amused to see her react like this.
_"Who are you? A bounty hunter sent by a new Organization?" Kairi asked. "Know that I'm not afraid and you won't get your reward so easily."
Kairi got up from her stool and summoned her keyblade in her hand, under the gaze of the wolf who showed absolutely no fear, on the contrary, it made him smile sinisterly.
