Kairi's Last Wish (Kairi and Sora vs Death - Kingdom Hearts/Puss in Boots)

Second Encounter

Kairi had constantly traveled the different worlds in search of an answer in order to find a way to save and bring back Sora. She finally believed to find the beginning of a very promising track while going in a kingdom of the name of Arendelle. There, she met two women, Elsa and Anna, who apparently Sora had already met and helped in the past. Learning that Kairi was a very good friend of Sora and that she was looking for him, Elsa and Anna wanted to help him. Elsa then had the idea to reveal to Kairi the existence of Ahtohallan, a frozen and magical river, which would contain all the memory and the answers of the past, the present and the future that anyone could ask. However, Elsa warned Kairi that wanting to know too much could lead to Kairi's downfall in the river.

Thanks to the directions given by the two sisters, Kairi was finally able to find her way to this great frozen river and entered it.

First, Kairi had to navigate the interior of this huge labyrinth of ice, having wrapped herself warmly in order to withstand the dangerously low temperatures of this place. The search was initially very fruitless, until finally Kairi arrived in a huge ice room with crystalline walls. At first nothing happened, but gradually the large ice crystals that made up the walls began to glow, then images of different times in Kairi's life, like memories of her life, appeared in the ice crystals. She saw her parents rejoicing at her birth, her mother holding her in her arms... Her childhood, her first meeting with Sora and Riku... She saw them all the times of her life, and it took her to the heart but seeing Sora and her together in these memories galvanized her to continue.

_"Don't lose hope, Kairi..." said a childish voice.

Kairi, startled at first, turned around, to see herself, or rather her when she was a child, in one of the ice crystals, looking at her with a benevolent smile.

_"It's incredible." whispered the Kairi of the present. "You are..."

_"I am you, from your past." the little girl laughed softly. "I know it may sound strange, but that's how it is. Memory rules here, whether past, present or future. And I tell you, Kairi...all hope is not lost for Sora...there is still a way, and the answer is here somewhere. You have to find it. Trust your heart, as you and I always did."

Kairi placed her hand on her heart for a few moments, deciding to listen to it beat, and indeed, she felt within her the same determination to find Sora. Nothing had changed.

_"I will find the answer." she said forcefully as she started to walk towards one of the ice tunnels to continue searching. "I won't let anything stop me, not even..."

_"Fear?" replied the Wolf, who suddenly appeared in front of her from the darkness of the tunnel, his sickles in hands.

Kairi jumped in fear, quickly stepping back and remembering that she no longer had her keyblade, this monster having managed, by she did not know what power, to dispossess her. But how did he knew she was here? How could he reach this place so fast? She was totally confused. The shadow of the wolf covered her as he advanced towards her and sniffed the air sadistically.

_"I do love the smell of fear... It's intoxicating." he said in his macabre voice.

With these words, and with only one blow, he broke one of the ice crystals into a thousand pieces which scattered on the ground. Kairi didn't dare move as he started walking around her, like a predator around prey.

_"Sorry to crush the party with your memories." said the wolf sadistically. "It's kind of disconcerting to look back at all the moments of your life, when you're supposed to be already dead."

Already dead? Kairi was more than confused in addition to being scared. Was he talking about... when Xehanort had killed her by hitting her with his keyblade? But... how could this wolf know that? He wasn't even there when it happened!
