On the other side of the glass,
there's a whole
'nother world.
There,
but somehow connected.
But not.
Unseen by many,
seen by a few I guess-
lucky ones.
Breaths are caught,
and eyes go wide.
One hand flies to my mouth,
the other shakily
reaches toward the glass.
A muffled sob
escapes from my fingers.
''B-baby?''
I say tears flowing
freely down my face.
You say something,
but no sound comes out.
As if muted.
I pound on the glass,
but it doesn't so much as crack.
My hands began to bleed,
but still,
I continue to pound on the glass.
As if it was my sole purpose in the world.
Screaming at the world,
but soon,
screams become sobs.
Tightly closed fist
become open.
Now flat against the cool surface.
I fall to my knees,
admitting defeat.
Although you still fight.
Pounding on the glass
with a metal baseball bat.
I flinch each time it hits the surface.
Panic,fear,and hope
all in your beautiful dark eyes.
But you let the bat go.
And drop to your knees,
softly touching the glass.
I sadly smile,
touching the glass where your fingertips are.
''It's okay,''
you seem to say.
''Pinkie promise?''
I say back holding out my pinkie.
A sad smile
goes over your beautiful face
as you hold your pinkie up.
''Pinkie promise.''
