LYDIA CLARK STOOD at her locker as she grabbed her things for her next class which was biology with Kim. Her friends stood at their lockers beside her grabbing their things and talking about the newest school drama, which happened to be that Frank was caught kissing bonita, the skeleton in the health classroom. Lydia was laughing at the joke Jerry just said as she grabbed her biology textbook and her light pink fuzzy highlighter case.

"Guys! Guys!" Milton came running down the stairs and in front of the lockers where Lydia, Kim, Eddie, and Jerry all stood. Lydia raised her eyebrow in question at her friend wondering what he had to tell them. In his hand, he held a little tiny gold bee.

"Wanna know who just won the district-wide spelling bee?" Milton asked excitedly while Jerry just shook his head. Milton ignored him and carried on with his story, "I'll give you a hint, M-E." Milton spelled.

The friends watched as Jerry thought to himself for a moment before saying, "Meh?" causing Milton to roll his eyes.

"It's me you toad." Milton spoke annoyed with his moron of a best friend. Nobody seemed to be excited for him, well nobody besides Lydia. She was his biggest fan.

"Milty, I was at the spelling bee, I already saw that you won." Lydia teased shutting her locker and turning to face the freckled boy. "But I'm still very proud of you." She smiled and hugged him with the arm that wasn't holding her books.

"Thank you Lyds." Milton smiled at the short girl.

"What is that?" Eddie asked pointing to the small gold trophy that lay in Milton's palm.

"Oh, this is the trophy I won it's a bronze bee." Milton tapped on the bee emphasizing his words.

"I've got fillings bigger than that thing." Kim said straining her eyes to stare at the tiny bee. Lydia elbowed her in the side as she spoke, Milton worked hard at his spelling bee and he deserved all of his friend's praise and support.

"I rode a little filly called perspicacious all the way to the finish line!" Milton pretended to be riding a horse galloping in place. He let out a dorky laugh and smiled at his friends. Lydia smiled and shook her head while the rest looked slightly embarrassed.

"Now come on, who's the man?" Milton hyped himself up, but instead of hearing that he was the man, Principal Burke walked in cheering on Jack.

"Jack is the man!" The principal cheered holding a large trophy as he walked with Jack. Everyone in the locker hall started to take notice of the two and begin cheering Jack's name.

"Jack! Jack! Jack!" Eddie, Kim, and Eddie joined in making their way over to where Principal Burke and Jack stood leaving Milton and Lydia behind at her locker.

Lydia and Milton watched on as Jack was praised for his success at the gymnastics tournament. Principal Burke continued to thank Jack over and over for winning their school the trophy. There hasn't been a win for the gymnastics team in fifteen years, no one was surprised though, their school's sports teams were often terrible sadly.

Milton and Lydia finally made their way up to where the rest of the group stood.

"It wasn't really a routine," Jack explained, "I was just trying to move fast enough so no one would notice I was wearing a unitard." He said embarrassed shoving his hands into his front pockets. A couple of boys on the gymnastics team walked by in their unitards waving to Jack and giving him thumbs up as they went.
