Since this story is almost completed, I will focus on mainly updating this story. As for my second main focus on updating, I haven't decided. So if you have any suggestions, let me know on my discussion board.
Anyway, onto the chapter!
Kei was walking out of the outskirts of the village in the forest where she learned her father Orochimaru used to live with his family.
She was now on her way to grab some lunch after her first training session with her father.
'Today's training session was great. I feel like my taijutsu improved, but sadly, not quick enough to land a hit on my father. I do feel like I was doing better than in the forest of death. He knocked me out so quickly that time.' Kei thought as she continued walking back into the village, seeing buildings again now out of the forest part of the village.
She stopped in her tracks as she got a strong feeling of being watched. She quickly turned around, looking for the source but found nobody in sight.
"Strange, I'm sure someone was there," She whispered, looking up at the roof of the brown building."Maybe I just imagined it," She said as she started to walk away.
As she was about to walk away this time, she felt the presence of someone again, but this time as she turned around, she saw tiny brown specs flying near her arm.
'Huh, sand? Wait a minute, could it be?' She thought, looking back at the roof, trying to spit out who was believed to be watching her when the specs turned into a hand and grabbed her arm.
The next thing she knew, she was being pulled off the ground and lifted on up to the far left corner of the roof. That is when she spotted the familiar redhead boy.
"Gaara?" Kei said, confused, as she was placed on the roof and glanced at the redhead standing on the top to her left. "Why did grabbed me with your sand?" She asked.
"Why did you leave me, Kei?" Gaara asked in a creepy voice, ignoring her question.
"That's what this is all about?" She asked, wondering if that, indeed, was the reason she was pulled up here.
"You were my only friend," Gaara said, holding his head."Why did you leave me alone? You promised to always be by my side when we met."
"Gaara, I never meant to break my promise to you," Kei said, looking up at Gaara standing next to her."That day after spending time with you like usual. I was told my mother was dead, and she left me a message telling me who my father was and decided to find him. I wanted to leave you a note, but I just didn't know the best way to tell you."
Gaara looked at Kei silently, not saying anything, and just stared at her.
"Gaara, you were my best friend," Kei said, standing up."Sure, I admit I had moments where you scared me with your sand, not knowing if it attacked me, but spending time with you was fun," She continued as she smiled at him.
"Yashamaru said it was my fault; my only friend left, but that was true," Gaara said with a painful groan.
"What? Of course, that wasn't true," Kei stated, slowly reaching an arm for Gaara."I cared about you more than anything. You shouldn't have believed Yashamru. I never like the guy. He gave me a bad feeling. I always wanted to meet my father and couldn't waste that chance; my mother left, telling me who he was allowed me to find him," She stated, reaching out for Gaara, not caring about the sand trying to stop her.
"Kei!" Gaara suddenly screamed in pain as the sand fell apart.
"Gaara-kun, I'm so sorry for breaking my promise. I hope you can forgive me and don't hate me," Kei said, hugging her old best friend.
"Kei," He said, calming down slightly."I don't hate you. I don't know if I ever hate. I just didn't know what I did to make you leave."
"You didn't do anything wrong," She said softly."I should have left you a note saying goodbye, but I'm glad you don't hate me."
"Did you find your father here?" Garra asked, freeing himself from Kei's hug once he was calmed down from his episode with his usual headaches.
"Yeah, I did be a man, a sound Jounin with their team here for the exams who resembles me and has the same name she mentioned. However, there is so much I don't know about him, and the fact he a mystery to me still makes me unhappy."
Gaara just kept quiet after listening to Kei's words.
"Gaara?" She questioned at his silence.
"Kei, I'll see you when the finals begin," Gaara said."You shouldn't spend too much time with the Sound," He said, disappearing off the roof with the sand whirling around him.
"Gaara?" She whispered, looking at the spot her best friend was in earlier, wondering why he suggested not spending too much with the Sound.
'Maybe he had a bad encounter with the Sound ninja. I heard they attacked Sakura in the Forest of Death, but nothing about Gaara. Speaking of that, I haven't seen those three Genin who attacked us in the Forest. I guess they failed the exam.' Kei thought, surrounding herself with a whirl of leaves as she was back on the ground.
After her moment with Gaara, she was now back on her way to lunch, and she decided to get herself a nice hot bowl of Ramen.
'I'm happy that Gaara isn't mad at me for leaving, but he definitely has changed from the lonely boy I met.' She thought about how he threatened to kill his brother when they arrived and then the sudden scream.
Kei shook her head, deciding that it wasn't worth thinking about. She already had a lot on her mind being Orochimaru wondering why he offered to train her. She just felt that it wasn't just because of her potential.
'I don't know why he decided to train me. He mentioned my crystal style, but I just feel like there is some more to it than that.' She thought as she arrived at her destination and ordered a medium bowl of Rabbit paitan Ramen before heading off for a walk to clear her mind of the racing thoughts.
