It had been years since he had seen her face, decades even, he thought she had died long ago. But not once did he stop thinking of her, the news of her apparent death had nearly killed him, only the love and support from his family had kept him alive.
So, imagine his surprise when here she is standing in the flesh just as surprised as he was. Time frozen, neither of them sure that what they are seeing is real, neither moving, yet their thoughts going a mile a minute.
She looked the same but was different at the same time, something had clearly changed about her, something big had happened but that didn't matter to him all that mattered was here she was, here was his life, his breath and his reason for existence but he couldn't move or get his thoughts in order.
Then like an explosion she leaped forward tackling him in an impossibly tight hug using all her strength and sending them flying backwards, knocking over a tree in the way and landing him on his back, after a moment of shocked silence he took a much needed and sudden breath in returning the hug with as much if not more force then he was receiving as strangled sobs burst from the woman currently pinning him to the ground.
"Rosie?" it came out a whispered desperate question.
"Leo," she replied it was one word, but it was the only answer he needed to hear as he held her even tighter, much to her surprise and comfort.
Neither knew how long they stayed that way not speaking or moving the only sound coming from them was his breathing, everyone else in the area standing shocked and silent at the blatant display of recognition and affection being exhibited by the two normally sullen and closed off creatures.
"Rosalie? Am I seeing things? Is that really you?" it was uttered not by one of the two holding each other on the ground but by one of the others standing and watching the scene play out before them
The words causing the vampire to release Leon and turn towards the voice as recognition once again played on her features, but before she could move towards the other voice the pair of arms belonging to the female who spoke up and the ones of the male with them were already wrapping around her securing her in a three-way hug with Leon still pinned beneath her.
"I'm so sorry, Rosie, I-I was too late, I-I... I'm sorry." The words forced out by a Struggling Leon were so pained that everyone, including the confused vampires still watching the scene, felt the utter despair being expressed.
Whimpers from the two holding her echoed the sentiment and emotion from the pinned sibling. She squeezed them tighter into the hug before taking in a deep, unneeded breath.
"Shhh... it's not your fault... you couldn't have known. " it was whispered, but everyone present heard it loud and clear
Silence once again fell over the group as Leon sat up adjusting the groups position to re-join the hug, a voice clearing from behind the group finally broke the group from their thoughts, each member slowly rising back to their feet and dusting themselves off before facing the confused vampires staring on with curious eyes.
Stepping forward Leon taking the lead as the older sibling moves to great the vampires grabbing Rosalie's hand on the way through, pausing for only a moment shocked at his sudden need for contact and looking to her for permission, Rosalie recovering quickly giving a short nod of assent. Leon after a slight squeeze of his hand continues forwards his siblings and Rose in tow.
"I suppose explanations and introductions are in order." Leon pauses for only a moment to collect and re-order his thoughts before continuing.
"My names Leon Kenneth McAllister, and these are my siblings, Tyler Raymond McAllister and Amira Evelyn McAllister, we were actually here to apologise for accidentally trespassing on your territory." Leon admitted with a sheepish look on his face and scratching the back of his neck a nervous tick he's had since childhood.
