It was Dylan's first day at River Valley high. He would be nervous but he knew that the most important thing for him to remember, was to exert confidence, so that others around him would feel it too. He walked into school, head held high, chin up. He was feeling great about himself until he heard laughing and a beep beep. As he looked behind him to all the commotion, he saw a faint swish of brown hair as a muscular figure emerged from a shiny black car. He looked to his left, then to his right. Dylan couldn't tell if he was moving in slow motion or if his brain was tricking him. From that moment, Dylan felt in love.
Dylan had only ever been in love once before, however that was before his parents explained to him how grandparents worked. His name was Ralph and he was perfect in Dylan's eyes, however, he knew it could never be. Dylan hadn't had this feeling until now, a fluttery heartbeat, the feeling like you're about to throw up butterflies from the very pitof your stomach. He'd always felt comfortable around Ralph, however not so much Ralph's wife, or apparently his own mothers mum, though, he always envied her and had a sort of hatred he could never explain. Whenever her Christmas gifts arrived, he scribbled out her name. Pictures with them? Her eyes were cut out and her head was decapitated with a paper cutter.
Dylan's eyes stayed glued to this majestic figure, he found himself short of breath. Finally, he thought, someone who is on my level. Dylan turned his head, but his face changed quickly from a state of lust to horror, as he found himself walking into a brick pillar. He bounced back from it and his fists clenched into balls. He punched like he'd never done it before, considering he hadn't, this wasn't surprising. The figure walked past, him. Dylan knew what to do in this situation. He made eye contact, and stared deep into his soul.
Suddenly, the brown haired stranger acquired a terrible look on his face. His expression became more and more horrified the longer Dylan looked into his eyes. Almost seamlessly, Dylan's eyes whipped back to the brick pillar. He shook his head, laughing a little to himself. He picked up his bag, which he'd unknowingly dropped whilst in awe of the god that had walked past him, and headed to his locker.
Whilst walking through the halls, Dylan made eye contact with a few strangers around him. He nodded his head in acknowledgement to them and continued on his way. He stared down at his map, until he realised his head was bent downwards. He picked up his head, and picked up his pace. He didn't know where he was going, but his plan was to ask the first person he saw who looked like he could approach them.
He turned his head and looked around, and spotted a short figure with platinum ginger hair. He strode up towards him and held out his hand.
'You're name what is?' Dylan asked
The figure turned his head, and looked at him with a scowl
'Paul, and you?'
Dylan was amazed to have already made a friend. He knew from this point on, he would be welcomed by his new school.
'Dylan, you have hair nice.' Dylan exclaimed
Paul gave a shrug, and turned back to his locker. He started packing his bag full of books, food and a sheet of paper. He quickly hurried of and Dylan was left alone. He couldn't let this happen, not on the first day. He grabbed his bag straps with his hands, and ran up to Paul.
'Do where you know this is room? Dylan asked him
'Babes, you need to learn how to speak. The room is to your left.' And with that, he removed himself from the conversation.
Dylan stared at him in awe. That Paul, he thought, what a character. He turned to look at the door and pushed his way in.
The room was full to the brim with teenagers squished up together like sardines. Dylan could tell just from looking at them, that his style was superior. He had on a green and pink sweater vest and skinny ripped jeans. He couldn't have felt better about himself if he lost some weight.
