George hid himself in his room for a day now. Sapnap was off on vacation, and Dream was left here with a very pretty boy he had just scared off. He couldn't lie, he was pissed off at himself for breaking George's boundaries. But he wasn't expecting him to completely push himself away. He had to make it up to George. There has to be a way, right?
Dream knocked on George's wooden door, the sound of the soft knocks barely echoing throughout the small hallway that roared with silence between his and George's rooms.
The house was so quiet recently, ever since the 'incident' at least. You could probably hear a pin drop from the kitchen.
George was quiet for a moment, contemplating on whether he should answer Dream or not. He was pissed at Dream, but he knew he couldn't be mad at him forever. They just moved in. It wasn't like George was threatening to move out. He just needed some space after the 'incident.'
Dream sighed before holding his breath again.
"I got you something..."
George was still quiet, resisting the urge to open the door. He wasn't completely mad anymore. Mostly just scared. Scared of what? Scared of Dream? Scared of himself...? He hadn't figured that out yet, but probably all of the above.
Finally, he responded.
"What?"
Dream waited a moment. Was it really a good idea to bother George when he was angry? Probably not. But Dream wanted to apologize. He felt so guilty, even if 'the incident' wasn't his fault. Even if he wasn't in the wrong, even though he definitely was.
"I made you your favorite kind of tea."
Dream couldn't hear George that well obviously, with a sturdy wooden door separating both of the boys from even seeing each other. But he knew George's eyes lit up like a little kid when he said that. He missed that look in George's eyes. He missed seeing George happy. He hated seeing George like this. It made him miserable as well. And especially lonely.
"White tea?"
"White tea."
Both of the boys voices were soft. To Dream, it felt as if he was trying to lure a kitten he found in an alley walking one day, making soft noises to try and lure the adorable ball of fluff towards him. He then named that cat Patches, and he still had her to this day. He remembers when George met Patches when he first moved in. The way his eyes lit up, just like how his eyes lit up when Dream mentioned George's favorite type of tea, white tea. The way George was happy, and Dream could just be around George and feel happy as well. But Dream realised that even though George made Dream feel happy, George was human too. He wasn't just there to make Dream happy. The sad truth Dream didn't even realise. He didn't even consider how George felt, and he hated himself for it.
Dream's gaze quickly switched from the plain wooden door to the door knob, which jiggled and dinged loosely as it slowly turned to the right. Dream's eyes lit up this time.
Finally.
Dream patiently held the ceramic, white, hot mug in his hands. Usually he would be impatient with the burning sensation, but he knew he had to be calm around George when he acted this way. This wasn't the first time he pushed George away because of his own actions. He remembers the text messages from 2020. 2020 was... different. A lot happened in 2020.
George admitted he liked Dream. More than friends. George even came out to Dream. While Dream's dumbass sat on the other side of the screen at 1am, his phone screen bright against his baggy eyes and pale face, thinking it was some kind of joke. Thinking it was a prank.
