A thousand light-years ago, a creature with a small body, but huge heart and imagination traveled a worm-hole to a distant planet. Atsu viewed a solar system from about a parsec out that he saw through his kaleidoscope a red sphere that looked as though it could be his home. He so wanted to reach his home but he was traveling in the opposite direction. Atsu modified his kaleidoscope to show him the direction home. Unfortunately he could only see brightly colored stars taking on a variety of shapes when he looked through the kaleidoscope. His imagination was carrying him back home through his kaleidoscope.

Atsu had just visited earth with his parents. He was studying the galaxy while his parents did their part for galactic security. Atsu learned about the Parallex which is the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions. He really liked this lesson because he thought about the kaleidoscope and day dreamed of going home. He asked about the brightness of some of the stars that he was looking at. His parents took the opportunity to explain the difference between the absolute magnitude and the Apparent magnitude. He learned that the absolute magnitude would be the brightness of a star seen at a standard distance of 10 parsecs where as the Apparent magnitude is what is seen from earth. Atsu wondered if the same applied to what he could see on his home planet. He had only one more lesson before he could go home. He learned about the wavelenths of color in his art class. His parents were trying to have him come out from behind the kaleidoscope as see the reality of color. They wanted him to live his life not dream about home. His parents took Atsu to the edge of the universe to show him the Red Shift which is a shift toward longer wavelengths of color that can be seen by moving away from the earth. This was Atsu's favorite lesson because it meant that his dream was coming true. He was finally going home.
