Jay was supposed to be asleep, but he was too afraid. He looked around the room, every corner there was a monster. Some with claws, some with teeth. Some had more eyes than others, some had more limbs than others. It's just a delusion. He said to himself. He closed his eyes and laid down. He felt eyes watching him. He opened his eyes and nothing was there. Told you! His eyes shut closed as he heard whispering. "He isn't asleep yet. I can tell, i've been doing this for years!" A voice said. "He's probably too scared to sleep, maybe we should find someone he isn't going to be afraid of?" Another said. "Alice? He looks like he would like her." The first voice said, "Let's try, but if it doesn't work we'll just leave him alone." A different voice said. "Alice!" The second called.
"Who now?" A majestic voice asks. "This kid won't go to sleep. He's to afraid!" The first voice says, "Can you try to get him to sleep, Alice?". "Alright, just don't call on me until it's day time here." Alice says. Jay heard the others leaving with a simple tap tap tap. He heard something sit down next to him. "Hello there, young one." The voice says gently. "Who are you?" He asks, tucking his head farther under his blanket. "My name is Alison, what's yours?" She asks, "I- I'm Jay." Jay says. "I heard you couldn't sleep, why not?" Alison asks. "I'm scared, I keep seeing things, they look scary." The young boy says, fearfully. "You don't need to be afraid of me, I'll protect you while you sleep! That's the purpose of us monsters, well, most of us." She says, sighing. "Are you scary like the others?" Jay asks, shaking under the covers. "No! I look, different from everyone. I look more like a dyed cat dragon than a monster!" She laughs. Jay takes the covers off his head to see a fuzzy, pink purple and blue cat-ish dragon. She was right, she looked less scary than the creatures he had seen earlier. "You should sleep now, it's already 9:30!" She says. Jay finally rested his head on the pillow, closed his eyes, and went to sleep.
