Maya smiled as she had arrived at the Matthew residence. It was calm out while Maya knew that Josh mustn't have made his way out of bed. She saw as Riley and Bayleigh were busy eating. She smiled at the two young teen girls while she went to the kitchen and grabbed a glass filling it with water.
"Where is that uncle of yours, Riley?" Maya asked as she saw how Josh stumbled out from the hall.
It was clear that he had just woken up. Maya saw as Auggie came out and smiled. She hugged the boy while it seemed like everyone went on with their days. The incident between Josh and Auggie the other day seemed like nothing while it was certain that his nieces were watching him.
"Riley, Bayleigh go and get dressed please. You girls have dance today so your mom asked me to take care of that. She and your dad are busy with work today," Maya said
She saw as the two girls ran to their bedrooms while she had put Auggie down. She saw as Josh grabbed himself a bowl of cereal and sat down on the couch. She shook her head, not wanting to cause trouble, as he had looked at her.
"Since when did you become their personal chauffeur/babysitter?" Josh asked as Maya looked at him while she was cleaning up the kitchen.
"Both my parents are in different towns. My parents got divorced when I was young and although they both still live in the same house, I barely see them. My mother is constantly at some retreat while my father... Let's say as a land developer he is barely at home," Maya said.
"I'm sorry. It must be really hard to be without them," Josh said, spooning his cereal, as Maya looked at him.
"It is, yeah. But, after years of doing it you have to get used to it. I didn't have much of a choice. I had to do that. How m y father makes ends meat is hard, but he puts the money on the table," Maya said.
"Still. It can't be easy," Josh said looking at Maya.
She saw in his eyes that he was being pure. She didn't know if it was real or not. She saw as Riley and Bayleigh came running into the kitchen as she grabbed her car keys.
"Will you be okay with Auggie and Ocean?" Maya asked as Josh nodded.
"Yeah, I'll be fine," Josh said as Maya left.
