When Jarnette waltzed through the door of the house and announced she'd just met Y/n, Elizabeth was immediately alert and listening. Her mother took notice of her now wide awake state compared to her previously slumped on the sofa, complaining about there not being anything to do.

Jarnette brushed it off for now but made sure not to forget about it- just in case.

"Where? When? Why?" The young girl rushed out.

MK counted on her fingers "You forgot who and what Lizzie cakes"

Ashley smiled "Someone's eager"

"I'm not eager!" Elizabeth scoffed "Just interested."

"You three failed to tell me you'd met them" Jarnette raised her eyebrows

All three shrugged simultaneously.
Jarnette shuddered.

"You know I thought they were much older than they actually are" She continued

Elizabeth tilted her head at her mother "How old are they?"

"Your age Liz, sixteen." Jarnette mused

Elizabeth pretended to act uninterested but she was in fact, very interested. She let out a small hum, deciding her shoes were suddenly gorgeous and she wanted to stare at them all day.

Jarnette hummed back at her daughter quizzically.

"Are you mocking me?" Elizabeth questioned quickly

Her mother just smirked and announced she was bored of everyone and went upstairs.

"She's so weird" MK rolled her eyes

"Would you rather she was boring?" Ashley quipped

MK sighed "No."

"Exactly" The twin smiled.

Suddenly, their mother appeared in the doorway. "Oh! I forgot to mention, I invited Y/n round for dinner sometime, goodbye!"

"What?!" Elizabeth stood up, but her mother was already gone.

"You're acting like it's a bad thing Lizzie bear" Ashley scrolled through her phone absentmindedly, only looking up slightly to ask the question.

"No, it's not bad. Just- unexpected." Elizabeth defended.

"Right. Unexpected to invite a new neighbour round for dinner?" MK questioned

"No- ugh." Elizabeth groaned and walked out, leaving the twins to engage in a silent conversation, seemingly understanding each other perfectly.

Whilst Elizabeth found herself questioning her the newfound nervousness about the prospect of Y/N coming for dinner, Y/N themselves was pacing nervously in their own house.

"Stop pacing you're making me seasick" Y/N's mother commented, eyeing them suspiciously.

"I'm not pacing." They defended

"You're pacing." The woman replied

A beat passed before she sighed into the room, "Wish your father would hurry up, we could be late at this point. And we're opposite their house, how can we explain being late to a dinner that's less than 30 seconds away?" She glanced briefly at the ceiling, as if expecting to see into the room where Y/N's father was preparing himself for the dinner.

"I'll get my shoes on." Y/N excused themselves from the room and went to put on their converse trainers.

"Don't put those horrible converse on!" Their mother called from the kitchen.
