Silent bonds

Y/n and Ghost we're standing at their posts taking the night watch while the rest of 141 slept in the grass. Y/n had made a couple of attempts at making conversation with Ghost but she knew better, in the end he shut her down and snapped "Sargent."

Everyone knew he didn't like talking unless it was with Soap, they had some sort of mutual agreement and Ghost would communicate with him through his eyes and somehow Soap understood.

She wanted to know what made Ghost tick but she also didn't want to over step, she knows what it's like to have boundaries ignored and made fun of.

"Look I know you're tired of me talking but I'll just say this last thing and you won't hear from me again. You make me curious about you, you're a mysterious guy who hides his face, hardly talks to anyone, and doesn't give a shit. I admire that which is why I want to get to know you but I also don't want to over step so" she says taking in a breath and looking down at her feet, "if you decide to let me in you'll let me know by your actions, and if you don't I understand I won't bother you again"

As she finishes Ghost looked at her caught by surprise by y/n's statement. It wasn't that he didn't like her or didn't want to let her in, it's just every time he let's Someone get close they get hurt and don't want to see him again or..

The only reason why he's close to Mctavish is because he's seen Johnny out there in the field, he's strong and smart. But even then he's had close calls and Ghost can only handle that much. A close friend and a girlfriend? He'd let himself rot if anything happened to them.

"I'm sorry." He's eyes softened at the site of her, he longed for to be in his heart but he can't trust others, if he decides to open his heart to her y/n would not like the lengths he'd go to just to make sure she's safe and happy.

There was nothing she could say in this moment, she could tell his mind was racing with thought's of what could or has happened and she couldn't blame him. Considering he hides his face she figured he has baggage but that was something she wanted to share with him, help lighten the load.

They turned their heads looking out into the sky, sitting in comfortable silence.

And even though he didn't say much she understood where he was coming from.
