Her passion and talent as an artist was matched only by her brilliant scientific genius. But, on one of her school trips, she was bitten by one of Oscorp Industries' experimental super spiders, which gave her her superpowers.
Initially using her powers for selfish ends, Penny's life changed after Uncle Ben was murdered by a thief. And feeling immense guilt and grief over it, she devoted herself to taking responsibility for protecting others by fighting crime and helping people, officially becoming Spider-Woman.
As Penny Parker, she's a rebellious and troubled teenager, who acts sassy and provocative. She also loves to prank and wallow, which sometimes gets the adults in trouble.
But as Spider-Woman, she is responsible, serious, heroic, and focused on her missions. She has a strong sense of justice and a soft and compassionate heart towards the helpless.
She will not hesitate to put her life in danger to save lives. Penny may seem tough and distant towards her friends and classmates.
But in reality, she hides a tortured soul after the death of her uncle and terribly scared if it happened to those around her. The few people who can break through her steel shell are her childhood best friends, Mary Jane Watson and Harry Osborn.
And Penny is no longer the type to let it go. Although, she does not use physical violence on Flash, she always finds a way to return her attempts to intimidate him.
When S.H.I.E.L.D introduced her to their new team, they couldn't get along due to Penny's independent and individualistic personality. But, a friendly relationship forms over time.
Penny can't stand Sam/Nova's flirting and attempts to impress her. So, when he becomes too insistent, she's not afraid to use verbal or physical violence to get him to back off.
She is a big fan of Black Widow, from whom she draws a lot of inspiration. She has always seen her as an independent and unwavering woman.
She would dream of being like her. Surprisingly, Penny strongly understands the Hulk, who is often being looked down upon by what one has and misunderstood.
She ends up befriending him and tells him that he will always be her favorite Avenger, right after Black Widow of course. Penny is also a feminist at heart.
She often thinks and says that women can be much better than men. Despite her insight and intelligence, she can also be dense and oblivious to romance, as for example she completely ignores Harry's romantic feelings for her.
