Trollex and Melody walked around aimlessly. They're planning a movie night together, but neither could agree on what to watch.

"How about the Goldmembers?" Trollex suggested. The techno-country troll next to him raised a brow before speaking.

"Again?"

Trollex shrugged. "It's funny! And you can't beat a classic."

"Uh-huh." The other troll replied bluntly. Trollex almost laughed as he turned to her.

"I'm serious, Melody! Besides, it's better than Hungover-"

Melody gasped dramatically, her hands going to her face as she spoke. "Nope! Don't even compare the two, Trollex. It can't be done."

"Why should I listen to you?" Trollex retorted. "Didn't you say the Lion King was overrated?"

"I only said that because you said you don't like Sharknado-"

"Who likes Sharknado!?" Trollex exclaimed. Melody cackled, and she fought back tears as she held her sides.

"Who doesn't!? That movie is hilarious!"

"Hilariously stupid." Trollex shot back. He struggled to hold in his laugh as he stared at Melody. The greenish-teal troll rolled her eyes playfully.

"That's what gives it its charm, genius."

"Suurre," Trollex replied. "Keep telling yourself that."

The two paused for a brief moment before erupting into a fit of laughter. Each time one of them began to settle down, the other would snort or chuckle, easily, causing the other to go back to laughing.

The sight caused passing trolls to stare at them in bewilderment. Trollex and Melody didn't seem to notice, their laughter finally dying down as they looked at each other.

"That's crazy.." Trollex mumbled between snickers. Melody smiled as she met his gaze.

"Yeah… We should get some candy."

Trollex nodded in agreement, and he began to ramble as he pondered on what they'd get. Melody nodded along, but her face fell when she noticed someone staring at her.

It was a rock troll, and their eyes narrowed when Melody met their gaze. Her throat suddenly felt dry, and a squeak escaped her lips as she took a step back.

"Are you okay?" Trollex asked concerningly. Melody blinked as she turned to look at him, and she didn't know how to respond as she glanced back at the rock troll.

Trollex followed her gaze, and he narrowed his eyes as he saw the rock troll glaring at them.

"What's their problem?" Trollex asked in confusion. Melody didn't speak as she shrugged her shoulders. The rock troll began walking towards them, and Trollex crossed his arms while Melody looked away.

"Do you have a problem?" Trollex asked cautiously as the troll walked closer. The rock troll was slightly surprised but kept their rude demeanor as they spoke.

"I was going to ask you the same thing," They began. "especially since you have that..hybrid harassing you."

Trollex didn't know what to say; his eyes still narrowed as he responded. "..harassing me? Are you hearing yourself right now?"

Melody glared at the rock troll when they scoffed, their hand pointing at her accusingly as they spoke.

"Oh, please. Don't act like this is a place for trolls like her. She looks like a failed science experiment for crying out loud."

"Hey!" Both Trollex and Melody exclaimed angrily. The rock troll ignored them as they stepped toward Melody.

"You heard me. You're nothing but the result of some sick joke. Maybe if you looked somewhat normal, it'd be okay, but no!" The troll went on to insult Melody's appearance, and her hands slowly balled into fists while her patience thinned.

She opened her mouth to speak, or more accurately, yell, but Trollex stepped in front of her as he shoved the troll backwards.

"Really?" The techno troll practically hissed. Melody blinked as she watched the rock troll stumble back, Trollex not letting them get a word in as he ranted.

"Are you that miserable that you're willing to pick fights with a troll you don't even know? And for being a hybrid!? Are you mad? Loose in the head? Two buttons short of a mixer?"

Melody blinked as the rock troll attempted to back away. Trollex wasn't yelling, but the tone in his voice was venomous. If looks could kill, then the troll would've dropped dead ages ago.

"I hate to break it to you bud," Trollex said sarcastically. "but when trolls mix together, you're going to see hybrids! Everyday! They don't deserve your attitude for simply existing. Get out of my face before I make you look like a failed science experiment."

Trollex huffed as the troll ran off in a panic, and his gaze softened as he turned back to Melody.

"Are you okay?" He asked quietly. Melody nodded, her face solemn as she averted her eyes. Trollex frowned as he stuck out a hand, and Melody stared at it blankly before turning away.

"I'm fine." She lied rather unconvincingly. Trollex sighed as he pulled his hand back.

"They're just a jerk. None of what they said was true."

"Then why is that what everyone says?" Melody mumbled under her breath. She gave Trollex a look as she continued. "Well..not everyone exactly. But I've heard it enough times for it to sting."

Her earfins pressed against her head as she stared at the ground, and Trollex bit his lip nervously as he tried to figure out what to say.

"I'm so sorry, Melody…" he said defeatedly. Melody glanced up at him, and Trollex took a step forward as he wrung his hands.

"There's a lot of trolls who'll try to tear you down, and I can't do much to change that.." They met each other's gazes, and Trollex shook his head while Melody frowned.

"I know.." Melody moped. Her tail flicked as she rubbed her arm.

"Just know that you're perfect just the way you are." Trollex said with a small smile. "They're the ones that have to change, not you."

A small grin crossed Melody's lips, and her earfins flickered as she let out a small chuckle. "Thanks..I needed that."

Trollex let out a chuckle of his own, and Melody grinned as she stepped closer.

"Can we watch Sharknado?"

Trollex halved his eyes as he looked at her, but he reluctantly nodded. Melody's grin grew, and she pulled Trollex into a hug.

"Thank you."

Trollex sighed as he hugged Melody back, but he still smiled as he stared at her.

"...you're welcome."

A/N: I might not write for oc's anymore. It's a lot harder for me than writing for a character that I already know.
