The A-10 Thunderbolt II roared over Oahu island in Hawaii at top speed. Making its way towards the once again devastated Pearl Harbor, this time credited to North Korea. The aircraft carrier lay 50 miles beyond the harbor, and was waiting for his arrival. The koreans below had no idea what was about to happen. But Aiden did, and it gave him an insufferable amount of fear as he soared across the island.
Looking out, he realized he was passing over Honolulu. This city had been selected as the target to protect the aircraft carriers from the nuclear strike. Only after civilians had been evacuated of course. He was fairly certain he was the only american left in the strike zone. If only he had not been held back by those korean pilots, he could be safe by now.
Finally, he was passing over Pearl Harbor. He glanced up just in time to see the missile pass over him. He was too late. Then, he was over blue waters. Out of his peripheral vision, he noticed a flash. The missile had hit its mark. A gigantic fireball roared in his direction. It struck the plane from behind, throwing it out of range with great speed.
The Thunderbolt was out of control. He tried to eject himself. At least he would land in water. But the heat had fried the system. He unstrapped his seat belt, and moved towards the back. It was consumed with flames, and had a hole ripped in it by the fireball. He jumped.
He descended for less than a second when the plane exploded, already a ways ahead. The fireball produced by the explosion was bigger than he had anticipated, and flung debris his way. A sharp piece of shrapnel pierced his abdomen.
Aiden hit the water, and floated on his back, blood pouring out of the wound. Luckily, not another piece of debris hit him.
He had become weak, and the pain had grown intollerable. He was quickly losing blood, and was certain he would not make it. However, it comforted him knowing he had accomplished his mission. His mission to defeat those who had taken every one he loved from him. He could now die happy. Slowly, he closed his eyes.
