After almost four straight hours of unpacking and pushing furniture around, you were exhausted and feeling hungry. Everything was still a mess inside, plastic wrap still on all of your big things, but you needed to take a break and get some dinner. You took out your earbuds and paused the music you were listening to while taking a look at the time, it was just about 6 o'clock making it a good time to eat and stop for the day in your opinion. Not knowing any pizza places or restaurants to go to yet, you figured you'd just drive around for a bit to explore and find somewhere random to go eat. Picking up your keys and wallet, you head for the front door.

Walking down the steps of the porch and walking along the pathway to your car you couldn't help but smile. Gosh, I'm in love with this porch and this yard and this house, I got a perfect place, you think. The glee you felt was quickly cut short when you got into the car to start it and the engine sputtered. Turning the key over and over a few times didn't work, the gauge showed there was still a quarter tank of gas left, so you knew your battery was dead.

"Dang it," you say as you bump the steering wheel with your palms.

You knew you didn't have any jumper cables, from packing and moving to a new place you didn't have everything you needed yet. Since it was 6 o'clock you didn't want to go just walk somewhere since in about an hour it'd be dark, if you wanted to eat you'd need help with the car first. You look over to the house Sam said he lived in but didn't see a car in the driveway, there was a wide garage though. Hoping he was home, you decide to go ask for help.

Great, first day here and I already need some help from my neighbor, again technically, you think with an exasperated sigh to yourself.

You step out of the car and muster a bit more courage before you start to walk over to the house and quickly go up the steps to the front door. You raise your fist and pause for a second before knocking against the thick brown door three times. A shuffle comes from somewhere inside, you hear footsteps approach the door and then it opens.

But it wasn't Sam who opened the door. It was a guy you hadn't seen yet. He was tall but not as tall as Sam, with lighter brown hair than Sam had too. He was dressed in a plain short-sleeved shirt with dark jeans and boots. But the first thing you noticed was his eyes, his green eyes.

There was a quick moment of silence before either of you said anything.

"Oh, uh hi," you say after swiftly glancing the man over. "Sorry to bother you, I met Sam earlier and he said he lived here. I just moved in next door today, my name's (Y/n)." You offer a little friendly wave of your hand.

"Oh hey," the man says as he shifts to lean against the door frame. "Was wondering when someone was coming after all those moving trucks the past couple of days. I'm Dean, Sam's brother, and roommate, unfortunately."

You chuckle a little. "I see, I wondered if he had anyone else living with him."

"He's the one living with me actually, I'm older," Dean says flashing a cheeky smile.

You laughed a bit more at that. "Right, my mistake. So is he home too?"

"Nah he's at his girlfriend Jessica's having dinner and whatever else they get up to. You need him for something?" Dean asks, crossing his arms as he does.

"No, not particularly," you say then scratch the back of your head. "I actually just need help with my car, the battery died quite unexpectedly and I need a jump."

"Well you got the right brother for that then," Dean says standing up straight. "I'm actually a mechanic, work here at the local shop. I can help you real quick."

"Really?" You say with surprise and relief in your voice. "That'd be so great! If you don't mind of course."

"Not at all, it's what us professionals do," he replies matter-of-factly and grins. "I'll grab my cables from the garage and pull my car to your driveway, sound good?"
