Ok, so you know how there is a theory that Germany is the grown up version of HRE? Its a lie. The HRE was the kingdom of the Franks, which were the French/Germans of a long time ago. The holy roman empire was made up of-
Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, some of Hungary and some other countries. It died when it's king died. King Charlemagne. He held the empire together and when he passed it on to his decedents at his death bed, they passed it on to their decedents, and so on. So the holy roman empire isn't dead it just became our modern day Europe. It proved that Europe could be united. Holy Roman Empire isn't Germany, if anything, he would be all of central Europe.
