He reappeared within the crowd, trying his best to avoid detection. Although he had taken longer than he had hoped to lose those who were following him, he managed to make his way to France. But unfortunately, by the time he arrived, night had fallen. This meant there was probably only one remaining train that would take him to Canada.
If he missed the train, he knew it would be all over. Despite his formidable abilities, the enemy outnumbered him and possessed weapons that could neutralize his energy. After more than a year of subjecting him to experiments, there was no doubt they had discovered a way to do so. Moreover, after evading pursuit for over a week, he had exhausted most of his stamina.
While making his way through the crowd, he formulated a plan that involved reaching the elevator to descend to the location of the hypertrain. Despite not having any money on him, he had already devised a strategy to board the train.
He eventually caught sight of the spacious elevator and swiftly vanished, leaving behind traces of crimson energy.
He materialized inside the empty elevator and felt relieved. He was aware of the surveillance cameras but wasn't worried. He could mask his appearance using his energy, so as long as the cameras couldn't detect thermal signatures, he had no problem moving around the monitored zones undetected.
The elevator's descent took a considerable amount of time as the only way the hypertrains could travel across continents was through the depths of the ocean. The journey had a few stops, during which a handful of people joined him in the elevator. He hadn't anticipated many travellers bound for Canada, given the ongoing disputes with Germany that had spilt over into other countries like France. Therefore, he hoped there would be vacant seats on the train.
As the elevator descended towards the lower level, Lincoln rested against the mirrored walls and closed his eyes. He focused his mind and gathered some of his nature energy before propelling it down the elevator and into the platform where the hypertrain was situated. He produced a clone of himself and transferred his consciousness onto it.
As Lincoln's eyes slowly opened, he realized that the elevator was only twenty floors away, leaving him with less than a minute to act. Without hesitation, he teleported onto the hypertrain and made his way to the cabin with the least number of passengers. Despite feeling drained, he summoned all of his remaining energy to disable everything in the cabin, including the humandroid crew member who was present. The lights went out, and the cabin was plunged into darkness, with only the faint glow of the ocean outside providing any illumination. The few people in the cabin gasped in surprise. Lincoln swiftly removed the disabled crew member from the cabin and stashed them in a nearby closet.
Weakly, he peered out of the window and saw the elevator doors slowly opening. After his consciousness returned to his body, Lincoln quickly exchanged places with his clone and settled into a seat by the window, facing the ocean. The power gradually returned to the cabin, illuminating the surroundings and the faces of the few other passengers who were present.
Lincoln let out a deep sigh and decided to create another clone, altering its appearance to closely resemble the humandroid crew member. He then directed this new clone to wander around the cabin.
As Lincoln looked out the window, he was captivated by the mesmerizing underwater panorama that lay before him. The vibrant marine life, ranging from schools of brilliantly coloured fish to graceful sea turtles and sleek sharks, filled him with wonder. He sensed someone taking a seat next to him but kept his eyes on the view. Suddenly, he heard a hissing sound as the doors of the hypertrain closed, signalling the start of their journey through the tunnel. As the train rapidly accelerated, he was pushed back into his seat, but soon found the ride to be incredibly smooth and comfortable thanks to the advanced technology that made the hypertrain possible.
As Lincoln turned to look ahead, a sense of relief washed over him. Thoughts of his loved ones filled his mind, and he cherished the feeling of being able to reunite with them. It had only been a few months ago that he had thought meeting them again would be nothing more than a dream, and now it all felt so surreal that he didn't know how to process it. He leaned back in his seat and allowed his mind to relax as sleep slowly overtook him.
After falling asleep, it didn't take long for Lincoln to start dreaming. His eyes slowly fluttered open, and he found himself in a place he had never been to before. He was outside, standing on what appeared to be a mountain range, surrounded by more mountains as far as the eye could see. He knew he was dreaming, but he couldn't understand why he was there. As he tried to make sense of his surroundings, he noticed that the mountains looked strangely smaller than they were supposed to look. In a moment of shock, he looked down and gasped as he realized that he himself was abnormally tall, standing at least twenty meters in height. Confused and overwhelmed, He couldn't help but question what was happening to him in this strange dream world.
He heard a familiar female voice call out, "Obsune?" He immediately recognized that the voice was calling out to him, and he wondered if this was the name he was meant to have in this dream world. He then realized he had forgotten his actual name.
The female voice repeated, "Obsune?" and Lincoln realized that the person was standing directly behind him. He turned around with surprising ease, considering that he was in a body that was more than ten times his normal size. As he came face to face with the person, a sudden surge of emotion overtook him. It was a mix of sadness and rage, but he knew that it wasn't his own. Before he could even get a proper look at her, his vision blurred, and he was plunged into darkness, screaming in rage.
With a gasp, Lincoln suddenly woke up and looked around, trying to remember where he was. The man sitting next to him noticed his distress and asked, "Bad dream?" Lincoln took a moment to collect himself, and as everything gradually came back to him, he nodded slowly in response.
