"Hey, how are you doing?" James said, placing his hand on his best friend's shoulder.
"I'm fine, why wouldn't I be?" Sirius asked rather irritated. For the last few weeks everyone at Hogwarts has been treating him differently.
He would get house points just for showing up on time and every minute of every bloody day it's "How are you doing?". After a while it just gets annoying.
"That's the spirit," James said and clapped him on the shoulder
"You know I'm here for you" He added
"James you are freaking me out, I love you but seriously fuck off," Sirius said and pulled James's hand down and stormed away. He wanted to run, hide, and be alone for a minute. So he left the grounds, unbothered by the fact that he was going to miss charms, but again it's not like he would get in trouble for it, he'd probably get a bloody housepoint.
He saw Regulus who must have been skipping lessons as well and joined him under the shade of a lonely tree.
"It's so fucking frustrating, everyone keeps asking me if I'm okay, why wouldn't I be okay?" Sirius asked leaning against the bark beside his brother.
"You didn't fail your owls, Mother and father are on their best behaviour, I have no idea," He said quietly.
"Can you really not think of anything?" He asked and Sirius just shook his head. In the distance he saw Remus walking towards him schoolbag in hand.
"Mind if I join you?" He said and took a seat beside the boy. Regulus must have seen him coming and left, to tell you the truth Reg doesn't really like Remus all that much. The boys sat in silence and then Remus pulled out his packet of cigarettes.
"That's a filthy habit," Sirius said, extending his hand for one of the smokes. Remus chuckled knowing they always play this little game.
"It's just terrible, who in their right mind would want to smoke an awful thing like that?" He said then placed the cig in between his lips. He was about to light it with his pack of matches but Sirius beat him to it. He snapped his fingers and the tip set alight.
"If you hadn't already won my heart Black" Remus laughed, gently hitting his head on the tree trunk.
In fifth year they kissed, now in sixth it was more, no label and nobody knew but whenever they were together nothing else mattered. With the war brewing and life only getting harder they were glad to have each other.
"Reg was asking me before, do you know why people keep asking me if I'm alright?" Sirius asked and Remus froze for a moment, however then his features softened and he relaxed again.
"We love you, all of us," He said, nudging Sirius with his elbow and both of the boys smiled.
"We care about you and like to make sure you are okay," Remus said and played a big hand over Sirius's knee then gave it a squeeze.
"I know, it's just that nobody cared before, I'm fine, literally nothing new has happened and-" Sirius was frustrated but he didn't want to take it out on Remus, he is one of the good ones.
"I shouted at James" Sirius admitted sheepishly after a minute of silence.
"I know, who do you think told me to come and find you?" Remus said after taking a drag and both of the boys laughed.
"You are a minx," Sirius said copying his action and feeling perfectly content. They fell into a comfortable silence until Sirius dared to ask a question that has been playing on his mind for some time now.
