It was a strong stormy night, from the west wing of the palace earth shattering screams of a woman was heard, the atmosphere was tensed while in the same palace in the eastern wing, the king was enjoying his victory after a fierce battle with the neighbouring kingdom. There was dance and drama taking place in the courtyard.
At this time in this windy night a pair of feet were running from the east wing towards the western one, they were of a young boy around eleven years of age running away from the celebration towards the painful screams of the woman who was his mother undergoing the pain of childbirth to bring her little one into this world, whose destiny she did not knew.
After a painful night of a mother, a joyous one of a father and an anxious one of a brother in the wee hours of morning there was the birth of a little angel who came like the first spells of a soothing rain in a desert. She was as pure as a pink lotus and as bright as the first rays of sun which wards of the darkness. She was as beautiful as a fresh spring who was born in the cold winter months.
Soon the news spread like a wild fire, when it reached the king, he was expressionless, although she was his daughter, she was just the result of a one night stand with one of the girls of his harem, a dreadful mistake for him. When the news was heard by the high queen she felt a wave of relief and happiness as she felt that the newborn can be suppressed easily and will not be a threat for her children.
The first person to take the princess in his arms was rajkumar(prince) Karan veer, the eleven year old child who was anxious the whole night. After seeing his newborn sister, he took a silent vow in his heart to always protect her and cherish her.
Suddenly the mother of the child started feeling breathlessness, she started having excess bleeding she felt her time is near and wanted to see her kids for the last time. In the dimly lit room entered rajkumar Karan veer with his baby sister in his arms. The dying mother looked at both her children and called them near, she caressed the cheeks of her new born daughter and uttered the name Prakriti then she held the palms of her elder son and with a heavy voice said "promise me you will always protect her, always be there for her and take care of her in this palace of treachery and deceit." Karan veer with a shaky voice said "I promise."
Hearing this and with assurance in her heart she took her last breaths and departed for her heavenly aboard leaving her children amongst monsters in human skin. Both the children were crying, the elder one understood the situation and had silent tears in his eyes while the younger one was wailing unaware of her loss.
Karan veer wiped his tears and cooed at his younger sister to stop her wails. Slowly she stopped crying and cocooned herself in her brother's chest and dozed off.
