Background Information: Piper Parker is the daughter and only child of the late Richard and Mary Parker. She is also the niece of the late Ben Parker and May Parker.

A former "science geek" in high school, Piper was the subject of much teasing and ridicule, particularly from local football jock and bully, Flash Thompson. After her parents died in a plane crash, Piper lived with her Uncle Ben and Aunt May, who adored and worried endlessly about the reclusive girl suddenly placed in their midst.

While on a school field trip to see the radioactivity being exerted, a spider crawled into the machine and was irradiated, biting Piper in the hand and granting her abilities commensurate with a spider, including superhuman strength, agility, speed, and "spider sense" that warned her of impending danger. Piper initially became Spider-Woman for personal reasons, seeking the popularity she never had in school.

Building mechanical web shooters in her bedroom, Piper set out to make a name for herself in show business, making television appearances and beginning a brief career as a professional wrestler. It was after such engagement in the struggle that Piper's life took a turn for the worse: fame rose to the head of the idealistic Piper, and she refused to arrest a fugitive criminal, believing that it was "not his business".

Shortly after, Piper returned home to find her Uncle Ben had been shot by a burglar, who then escaped to an abandoned warehouse by the water. After finding out who the killer is, Piper was shocked and ashamed to discover that her uncle's death was her fault: her uncle's killer was the same man Piper had dumped earlier that day.

Devastated by her own actions, Piper Parker turned Spider-Woman into a force for good, sworn to protect the city and its occupants. In her civilian life, Piper got a job as a photographer at the Daily Bugle, working for J. Jonah Jameson (a man who passionately despises Spider-Woman), and attending Empire State University as a student.

After the spider bite alters her physique and enhances her beauty, Piper is coveted and desired by multiple men, who meet her with a single glance. Although, she holds firmly to her independence, she often resorts to her womanly charm and seduction in order to obtain information, whether for her civilian work or her work as a superhero.
