SPLASH! The sound of footsteps hitting a puddle sliced through the soft pattering of the rain Eribus ran from three cops each cop had a weapon drawn Eribus surveyed the cops they turned around and stopped the cops stopped as well.

"Come with us now or we will shoot," the cop on the far right said.

"Gimme your best shot," Eribus smirked all three cops fired their guns she flipped over the cops bullets followed but not fast enough landing behind the cops landing a kick directly on the first cops ass the other five turned to face her as the first cop stood and pulled out what appeared to be a small knife before she knew it the cop she had kicked was barreling towards her. He slashed at her neck she dodged the strike just barely heat came off the blade in waves

"shit," she grabbed her knife from her belt slashing at the cop. Two of the other cops launched themselves towards her, Eribus ducked the first cop but the second cop caught her in the jaw knocking her to the ground she rolled to the right coming to a kneeling stance and threw her knife planting it directly into the neck of the cop she kicked. She reached into her pocket and found a sapphire.

"Glacies," she threw the stone towards the cops. it clattered uselessly to the floor the men stepped hesitantly towards sapphire Eribus stood up and bolted "three, two, one."
the sapphire exploded freezing everything around it. Eribus ducked into an alley.

"IGINIS," a voice behind her shouted Eribus pivoted to see a woman holding a ball of fire, "don't move a muscle."

"yep, not moving moving" Eribus spoke in a level tone.

BANG the sound of a gunshot echoed through the alley the bullet flew through the fire ball extinguishing it immediately
"that was a warning shot," a cocky voice came from above Eribus smiled "heard you needed back up."

"you're late," Eribus replied before turning her attention back to her would be attacker, "so who are you, mugger, gang member, hired gun?"

"why should I tell you," she spoke clearly trying to keep a calm collected appearance but under the surface she was panicking looking for an out.

"Well given that the fact that you can use magic you're clearly not from around here. So here's the deal you leave now or we can kill you where you stand and never think about this day again." The assailant turned and walked away quietly, "What took you so long i called for backup like an hour ago."

"Got held up either way you wouldn't have made it out of there without me," the figure on the roof argued back "oh and don't give me that 'I had it under control' bullshit we both know you needed an out just as much as she did."

"I DID have it under control,"  Eribus pulled out an opal "see back up plan."

"yeah if you pulled that out she immediately would've thrown that fire Eri you can't magic your way out of everything that kind of mentality is gonna get you hurt," The figure spoke with concern.

"Erika i'm touched but i'll be fine it's not like i can die or anything," Eribus said coolly.

"you can still get hurt though," Erika reminded Eribus.

"Ok ok i'll be more careful in the future," Eribus jumped up onto the building next to Erika. Erika pulled her hood down and swung her rifle onto her back "let's run by the arms store I need a new knife I kinda left mine in a guys neck back there."

"Mkay," Erika's voice was distracted.

"you doing ok," Eribus asked they'd known each other for years now and could read each other's expressions almost perfectly.

"Yeah i'm ok just tired," Erika appeared to be pulled back to reality with the question her gold eyes swirling and her black hair falling neatly across her back and shoulders blending in with the black leather of her work jacket. the rain pattered in the ground in an endless rhythm. "come on let's run."

within a second the two figures leapt across the rooftops blending smoothly with the dark sky. in what felt like a second the two of them stopped and jumped down into an alley and walked out onto a silent street lit up by neon lights. They walked wordlessly the rain filling the silence with a calming patter they turned a corner into a dark side street coming to a halt at a storefront. They walked and looked around Eribus picked up a knife and a revolver she payed and walked towards the door and stood by it waiting for Erika to finish paying. The two of them left and walked a little bit farther stopping at an apartment complex. They walked in and up a flight of stairs they arrived at unit 138the brass numbers shone in the artificial light of the hallway the two of them entered a room.

"You wanna take a shower first or should I," Eribus spoke the first words either of them had said since they had left the alley.

"I'll take one first," Erika walked into the restroom and closed the door behind her the lock clicked shut. Eribus walked into the living room.

"Ignis," a small fire ball appeared over her hand and she threw it into the fire place a fire crackled cheerfully to life casting a soft warm glow around the entire room. she walked into the kitchen grabbing a kettle she filled it with water and placed it on the stovetop turning the knob all the way to the right. she pulled out the black tea bags and a tea cup. The kettle began to boil. Eribus poured the boiling water over the teabag and brought her cup of tea into a small dark room she fumbled around for the light switch flicking it on the room was flooded with the harsh light of an LED bulb flooded the room revealing it to be a small workshop she placed down her tea and the gun she bought on a work bench. She put her heaphones on music blasting her music at top volume she began to rip the gun apart setting aside the trigger and firing pin she then put those peices into her own gun testing it to confirm quality a quick nod confirming she was happy with the result. She felt something wet tap her back she whipped around raising the gun instinctually seeing it was just erika "oh fuck sorry."

Erika laughed "it's ok. I'm done in the shower though so if you wanna take one you can."

"i'm ok i'll take one in the morning," Eribus put the gun down.

"ok," Erika spoke while stealing a sip of Eribus's tea.

"want me to make you one or should i just make more for myself," Eribus laughed softly already walking out the door. She went to the kitchen and put more water on to boil. She saw Erika sitting on the couch gazing out the window the rain still pouring down pattering softly on the window the water screamed alerting that it was boiled Eribus finished making her tea and sat down next to Erika resting her head on Erika thighs. "I love the rain."

"It gives me a sense of dread, like all of this, us the rain make me feel like join call could lose it in a second fate hasn't exactly been kind to either of us," Her voice wavered like she was trying not to cry.  It felt like an eternity before anyone spoke again "I wish we could stay here forever frozen in this moment just us sitting here."

Eribus didn't reply she didn't need to they both want to stay they both wish they could freeze this moment stay here forever. the silence was peaceful broken up by the rain and fire the two of them sat there the fire cheerfully crackling the warmth of the moment filling the room letting them live here in this moment leaving this as a moment as frozen in time as it could without truly letting them stay here forever. "This is why i live these moment they are what makes living worth it."

Erika said breaking the silence but there was no response she looked down and saw her girlfriend sleeping she smiled and elected to let her sleep kissing her in the forehead Erika lifted her into a bridal carry and put her in bed get into bed next to her and finally sleeping.
