Chaeyoung adored watching Jennie sleep.
She lived for the quiet moments between them. The ones when the sky was painted in blues and purples just before dawn. When the moon refused to relinquish her throne to a newly waking sun.
The moments where she could calculate the exact bend and slope of fluttering lashes.
She lived for the rise and fall of deep breaths and the wind drifting through the window, the scent of it mingling with the rich spice of dark wings as Jennie laid bare and dreamed.
Chaeyoung drank in each tilt of Jennie's mouth, almost as captivating in slumber as they were in waking hours. The twists of them showing ghosts of playful smirks. Addictive and indulgent smiles. The pull of pouty frowns.
Wings twitched, fluffed, and ruffled in minute movements that hinted of dreams filled with flight. The warm blanket of feathers tickled Chaeyoung's skin as the muscles of Jennie's back jumped in tiny jerks, leaving Chaeyoung wishing she could see even a glimpse of whatever marvel was taking place within Jennie's sleeping mind.
She lived for the feel of toes curling against her shin and the scent of floral shampoo. The one that mixed so deliciously with the lotion Jennie put on before bed. Lived for the way sleepy hands grasped at her, sought her out, and every other messy way Jennie slept when Chaeyoung was in her bed.
Sleeping Jennie looked timeless. A beautiful disaster wrapped in sheets and Chaeyoung's arms.
Chaeyoung watched her for a few more moments, letting her eyes wander to her heart's content.
But eventually the single chirp of an alarm Chaeyoung had set sounded, and she released a thoroughly discontented sigh right along with it.
She shifted closer on the pillow they shared. Lifted a finger to caress the curve of a perfectly sculpted brow. Watched lips pooch and look impossibly fuller as she traced down the bend of that adorable nose.
Jennie's face scrunched up at the touch, a sharp inhale and subsequent sigh pulling a smile to Chaeyoung's face.
"I'm gonna go," Chaeyoung whispered, her thumb caressing the crease of Jennie's bottom lip.
She received the tiniest of grunts in return. The leg splayed over her hips flexed in an attempt to pull her closer as the midnight blanket of feathers tucked itself more securely over them both.
"No," Jennie breathed, her words soft and husky with sleep. "Warm..."
Chaeyoung's smile widened as she brushed the mop of Jennie's hair further back from her face. "We talked about this last night," she reminded her. "I have to be ready by seven."
Jennie's face twisted into a grimace as she gave another noise of displeasure.
Eyes still resolutely closed, Jennie puckered her lips expectantly.
"That's not gonna work."
A few smooching sounds were volleyed back in challenge.
Shaking her head at this ridiculous woman, Chaeyoung leaned forward, pecking her lips in three soft kisses before pulling back again just as quickly.
