The best birthday

Harry went outside. When he saw his surprise, he widened his eyes. It was the brand new, can-stare-for-hours-and-wouldnot-get-tired kind of RMX sports bicycle.

He had spent the whole summer ogling the bike in the store, had spent hours begging his parents to buy that cycle, so he was in literal shock when he saw it standing in his backyard.

Shock gave way to happiness and grinning, harry hugged his mother crying, "Thank you! Thank you so much!" Lily laughed. Then he hugged his father tightly.

James said, "anything for my little boy."

At that, harry sobered up and murmured, "not so little anymore. I am 11."

Everybody snickered loudly. Harry rolled his eyes.

James then clapped his hands and said, "let's go everyone. Its cake time."

As everyone was moving inside, hermione nudged harry and asked, "liked your surprise? Sirius suggested it."

Harry raised his eyebrows and said, "you knew?"

"Of course i knew. And let me tell you even jack knew."

Harry gasped. "The traitor. We spent hours together fantasizing what the surprise could be. He never told me."

She shrugged her shoulders. "Well you would have hit him if he told you. It was for your own good."

"Fair enough."

After the wonderful party, harry challenged jake to a bike race around the city. Jake accepted heartily and want away to retrieve his bike.

Hemione rolled her eyes and was going to go home when harry challenged her to a card game for the next day.

It goes without saying harry won the challenge and jake treated him to ice cream. Then harry promised him for a ride on his RMX and went home.

Reaching home, he crashed in the sofa and took out his favourite comic to read. When lily admonished him for not studying, james intervened saying,  "its his birthday lily! Let the lad enjoy."

"Thanks dad." Grinned harry.

Then remus who was reading the newspaper on the other sofa, coughed lightly.

Suddenly, the atmoshpere of the room became tense. James said, "harry, did you like your surprise?"

Harry nodded enthusiastically and launched into a tirade about how much effortless the bike travelled, its mileage and various other stuff.

James coughed. "Actually harry, it wasn't the surprise. We have something else for you too."

"Wow! That's awesome! 2 gifts on one birthday.  This is the best birthday ever."

James handed an envelope to harry. Harry, puzzled but curious, opened it to see a letter.

Dear Mr. Potter,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts
School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all
necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July
31.

"Umm..... is this the part where i laugh and comgratulate you on your brilliant prank dad", said harry cheekily.

But for once, there was no playfullness on his father's face. He sighed and said, "No harry. This letter is real."

Then he looked at harry, right in his eyes and said" We are wizards harry."
