Lily Evans woke up at six in the morning, every day ever since she was seven. It was programmed into her body, she physically couldn't sleep in even if she wanted to. She sighed and stared at the wooden boards above her.

What if she wasn't here right now? What if none of this was real? What if it was a dream?

But it couldn't be a dream or a twisted version of reality Lily had created because Lily never would have chosen this life for herself. She'd gotten this far living like this though, so she couldn't change now.

Lily sat up in bed and yawned, stretching her arms above her head. She slipped her feet into the slippers beside her bed and pulled a jumper over her head. She shuffled towards the bathroom, rubbing sleep from her eyes as she went. She had a quick shower, steam curling around her.

There was hair in the sink again which means Marlene had another midnight identity change. With a quick wave of her wand, the hair disappeared and the scissors were back in their place. Lily splashed water on her face and looked into the mirror. Her hair was a mess of curls and her jumper was hanging off one shoulder, water dripping down her neck down onto her collarbones.

Lily groaned before reaching for her hairbrush. A total of fifteen minutes and twenty-seven seconds later, her hair had been tamed. She reached for her toothbrush and pushed a drop of toothpaste onto the bristles. Two minutes later, her teeth were brushed and she had mascara in her hand.

Lily had a small internal debate on wether or not she should wear foundation and decided against it. This year, she would make herself known. Not Lily Evans but Lils. And the first step to revealing Lils will be to not hide her features and be confident in her body. Without foundation, her freckles and acne scars would be on show, the small red scar on her lip would also be a little more visible.

She grabbed her wand and walked back into the dorm. Her uniform was laid out on the chair beside her bed. A skirt, a white shirt, a Gryffindor red tie and knee high socks, her favourite Mary Janes propped up against the chair legs.

Lily quickly got dressed and put her hair up in a bun, sticking her wand through it to hold it up and went to wake up the other two girls.

She went to Mary first. The two always let Marlene have a little lie in because they know that she barely got any sleep as it is. Lily shook Mary awake slowly. All Mary did was roll around, groan and mumble about wanting five more minutes. Lily rolled her eyes and grabbed two ends of the blanket on Mary. Two tugs and it was off. But there was another blanket underneath. Mary smirked slightly.

Lily rolled her eyes again before pulling the other one off. Mary groaned and pulled the pillow over her head. The sunlight dance across the sleepy girls features, illuminating her in gold. It fit her, Lily thought to herself. If there was one colour to describe Mary, it would be gold.

"Mary, we're going to miss breakfast if you don't get up."

Mary shot up after that, running to the bathroom and tripping over stray clothes and books on the floor. Mary was out a refreshed in under twenty minutes, running to find her uniform and put it on. Lily went to Marlene's bed and went to wake her up.

"Marlene. Marlene, seren, it's time to wake up. Come on, seren, we're going to miss breakfast!"

Marlene slowly lifted her head, gave Lily a lazy smile and pulled her down into a hug. Somehow, Marlene had climbed, practically on top of Lily, with her head on her chest.

"I love you so much, you know that, right?" Marlene mumbled.

Lily smiled softly, "I know, seren. I love you too."

Mary soon joined them. "I love you lot as well."

This is what Lily was grateful for, these little moments, these pockets of joy.
