SeaPeeKay was used to dimension hopping. He was used to feeling when the string would tug at his gut; the way his belly button would be pulled inward from himself and his very being would flip inside out. He'd empty his stomach into the nearest bush and that was how he started his journey every time.

He wasn't, however, used to doing that in the sky hundreds of feet from the nearest flat ground. He wasn't used to the wind whipping against his skin and his body as it tumbled over and up and down and back and, oh my god, he couldn't breathe. The wind stole his air, lungs squeezed by all the pressure of g-force. The scream that had ripped from his throat as he began his plummet had long clipped and his throat felt so tight that he thought he was suffocating.

He hit the water before his thoughts could clear. The white-hot pain sparked through his body and his lungs filled with so much salt and bitter, he felt like they might've burst. His limbs burned and he couldn't move. He couldn't swim against the sea that pulled him in.

All he could do as his body surrendered to nature was remember what brought him here.

My love, Where are you?

His muscles relaxed as he set the anvil down with a thud. Scarred arms stretched while his lungs filled with air and that ever-present ash and metal.

"Spork, could you refill the bucket with seawater please?" The man's voice was gruff and deep as he moved to grab some heated iron and a hammer. He would've almost seemed intimidating if it weren't for the large brown rabbit ear that kept falling over his eye.

The stocky rabbit didn't wait for an answer from the small fox-rabbit hybrid, having chosen instead to slam his hammer down on the iron and bury himself in his work. The slamming was rhythmic and the rabbit had to stop himself from falling into a trance at the sounds.

"¡Mierda, Eddie! I need to get more sleep." The blacksmith, Eddie, swore in crys mutterings. The first step of Eddie has Sleep Deprivation: Eddie would talk to himself. Second step: Loud sounds would make him sleepy like bells.

Third step: Eddie would confuse real life sounds for hallucinations. The blacksmith had put the hammer down at this point. Gloved hands gripped either side of the anvil, eyes stared into the orange of the heated iron he was working on. It took him a moment to realize that the voice yelling his name was Spork, his apprentice, and not a voice in his head.

"EDDIE! C'mon we gotsa go! Stop daydreaming, boss!" By the time Eddie could control his body again, he was already using it to stay upright as Spork tugged him out the smithery doors and into the sunlight.

"W-what's going on, kid?! Where're we going?" The rabbit stuttered out as he struggled to keep up with the spirited - and worried - boy that bound down the cobbled pathway. They were heading towards the beach of The Sanctuary, Eddie realized.

"Woah, woahwoah- woah, kid," Eddie locked his heels into the ground and watched as his strength stopped Spork in his tracks, "What's happening at the beach? Did you find any more Mers looking for help? What's the rush?" Eddie was holding Spork's hand in a vice-like grip now, keeping him from running but not enough to hurt.

"Let go! He was barely breathing! Just help me save him, boss!" Spork's hand slipped out of the glove that was keeping him trapped in Eddie's hold and off he ran, reddish brown animal legs pumping. Eddie could only shake his head in bewilderment and worry as he followed the kid, the two now raced ever closer to the sea.

By the time Spork reached the giant red fox hybrid, said man was coughing up seawater and had rolled onto his front, barely able to hold himself up by his forearms. A fall like that would kill anyone else. It was a miracle he hadn't drowned or washed ashore a corpse.

"Oh my gods! Spork, get Sausage and tell him to bring the stretcher and any other heavy lifters!" Eddie hated screaming, especially at children, but it was the only thing he could think of as he got down on his knees in front of the giant fox. Quickly assessing the man's body for anything immediately fatal, the panicked rabbit helped the fox roll onto his rear and sit up. Eddie cringes as the man coughs up literal seaweed.

"I'm going to have to move you, sir. Can you tell me anything about yourself? It'll distract from the pain." The fox's eyes were so green, Eddie thought there were emeralds embedded in his stare. It felt like forever until the large man finally opened his maw, revealing sharp fangs, and spoke,

"My name is SeaPeeKay," The fox, SeaPeeKay, let out a sharp hiss as he was transferred onto a stretcher by a group of men; Had there always been three men there? "But most people call me Callum."

"Boss, when will he wake up? He looks like me!" Spork had been sitting by the new stranger's bedside for 3 hours at this point. It was late in the day now, far past closing time for the Smithery and usually when Eddie would head home to relax with his son and boyfriend. Tonight, however, he would tend to SeaPeeKay's wounds, of which he had many. Most of his bones bruised and his lungs would definitely hurt before they began to heal. Eddie watched the broad chest of the fox hybrid rise and fall. It was amazing how peaceful the stranger seemed in sleep.

"He'll wake up faster if we leave him to rest, kid, " Eddie patted the kit on the back, careful not to topple him with his large hands, "Now go home. I'm sure your mom is worried sick." Spork nodded dutifully at his mentor and Eddie just smiled as he watched the boy leave.

Eddie turned to follow and lock up for the-

"EDUARDO, I KNOW YOU'RE HERE! WHY WEREN'T YOU AT DINNER?" Shit. Eddie turned back to his patient, shoulders then lowering in relief that he only moved slightly. Eddie was just able to slink out the room and close the door before he locked eyes with his tall and scary boyfriend. Eddie couldn't help but notice how inhuman the hybrid looked standing in the shadows at the end of the hallway.

"¡Querido! Perdóname pero tuve un paciente nuevo y me olvide que tuve que decirte!" Eddie's hands shook at this point; His lover was never violent towards anyone but, gods, did he look scary with the way his purple-hazel eyes glowed.

The willowy figure turned his head to the side, as though processing the information, until he finally stepped out of the shadows and barreled into the rabbit man with open arms.

"Babe, that's alright! You know I trust you," Eddie stood still as the much taller man stared at crys with those big purple-hazel eyes that were oh so pretty, "Would you like me to use my 'jazz hands' to help him?" Eddie gulped audibly as crys querido's purple grip tightened around his plump, darker-skinned hips. Gods, Eddie loved hated when he said things like that. It made him far too embarrassed.

The rabbit hybrid pulled away from crys lanky lover to stare up at it, "Oli, amor, what will help him is rest. I know you mean well but we're lucky he even survived this long. Plus, I'm tired. Let's just go home and you can meet the new patient when they're better, ok?" Eddie's boyfriend, Oli, gave an impish little frown at that; It hadn't been involved in anything lately and it'd been eating at it. But at least vwoop was with vwoops Eddie now. That was all that mattered to him really.

"Fine, Mr. Grouch. Let's go home and get you some dinner." Eddie just sighed in relief as his boyfriend led him out of the infirmary and towards their shared home in The Sanctuary.
