As soon as I walk inside the school, I look around me. I see old faces as well as new faces. Unfortunately, some of the old faces I see are some of my bullies since freshman year.
Sigh.....
Great..another year of bullying..
After having that thought, I shake my head. No! This year, it will be different, I need to give those wannabes their taste of their own medicine. With that thought, I smile to myself and then I look over to those popular girls. I watch them as they talk between among themselves and their boyfriends.
Suddenly, having a feeling of someone watching them, Hailey, the cheerleader captain, raises her head up and looks around and then stares right at me and smirks.
Yikes! Maybe not..who am I kidding? Of course I can't go against them! What was I thinking?
With a sigh, I head to my locker who luckily is next to my best friend, Lisa's locker. As soon as I get there, I already see Lisa waiting for me. Once she spots me, she smiles and waves at me as I head closer to her.
"Hey Lisa."
"Hi Katania! How are you, how was your summer?"
"It was great, thank you for asking." I say with the best smile I can show. To be honest, she hasn't been able to hang out with me a lot recently, for 3 months to be exact, to the point where I just get worried about her and if she's doing ok.
"I just wished we could have been able to hang out more in the summer, I missed you.."
"Oh bestie I did too-" She begins to say when we suddenly hear her phone signaling she got a text. She looked over it and read it and frowned. "Sorry Katania, this time we can't walk together in our first day, I have something important thing to do."
"What? But it's only our first day back."
"I know, i'm sorry bestie. Tell you what tho? Whenever we see each other again, we can go out to eat, how does that sound?"
"That's a great idea! I'm in."
"Great! I'll text you whenever I have free time to do it. Bye!" And with that, she runs out the door.
"See you...later." I say with a sigh, I can't help but being worried if she's really alright. She does seem a bit..secretive.
I shake my head, breaking out my thoughts. I can't think this way! It's my first day back, I need to make the most of it. And with that thinking, I walk to my first class. I look for a free seat to sit as soon as I walk in, and finally, I do see one right in the corner of the room so I walked there.
However, as I walk there, I feel something blocking my feet, making me suddenly trip and fall to the hard concrete floor. I groan and sit up and hear everyone in the class laughing. And, surprise surprise, I see Hailey walking towards me with a big smile and laughing so hard, I actually thought she was going to choke. Wishful thinking..
"Aww, did the little looser fell down? Guess you should have paid attention where you're going." She says as she turns to her friends and laughs with them. I sigh and stand up and brush off the dirt in my pants. I just ignore them and sit down in my seat.
A few seconds later, the teacher walks in. "Good morning class! My name is Mrs. Winskey and I will be your Math teacher for this year. I'm very excited to meet you all!" She puts her books and little bag down onto the teacher's desk. "Now! Let us go one by one and introduce ourselves and say one fun fact about yourself. I'll go first! Hello everyone, my name is Mrs. Winskey, I have a husband and 3 beautiful kids. And one fun fact about me is that I have meet my favorite singer two years ago in person. Ok! Now who's next?" She says and calls one by one.
After a few minutes, she scans and looks straight at me. "Alright, and now it's your turn! Please introduce yourself." Oh god..please no..i'll do anything..i'll jump off a bridge! Ugh...there's no use, here we go..
With a deep breath, I stand up. "H-Hi, my name is Katania Morrison and o-one fun fact about me is t-that I like to t-travel.." I say, trying my best not to stutter but I end up failing. My teacher just smiles at me after my introduction. "It's nice to meet you Katania! And where is your favorite place to go?"
"Oh well, I like to go the grand canyon, it's beautiful there."
"Yhea, and although, the view would have been better if you just fell off the cliff." I glare at Hailey after her comment, seeing her laugh with the rest of the class.
"Everyone, stop laughing! That is no way to treat your fellow classmate. If I see any bullying in this class, it will be straight detention for you, understood?" The class agrees with a chorus of yes ma'am. And with that, the teacher starts giving us our lesson.
I sigh and get my notepad out and pencil and start writing. I want to go home...
