Chapter Two~Two Months Later~ Me and Max hadn't had a big fight since the one about my weight two months ago. In fact he had been really sweet since then. We had gone out more, and he bought me jewelry, and the tablet that I had my eye on since Christmas. But even though he had been really sweet sometimes the look in his eyes scared me.
I shook the thought from head and opened the door to me and Max's house.
"Hey babe I'm home".
Max went over to me from where he was sitting and kissed my cheek.
"How was your day?" he asked me. His tone of voice scared me.
"Okay, I worked on my paper and caught up with Megan and Zoe."
"That's all?" His tone dangerous."What else would I do?" I asked, voice trembling.
"Go to the gym, maybe get rid of all of your fat. You promised that you were going to be perfect". He said, grabbing my arm. I remembered that day two months ago, and my stomach dropped.
"No I didn't, I only said I would try to lose some weight for you." When I said that the expression on his face terrified me.
"Are you saying I'm a liar? Are you fattie?" His hand flew up and came down on my cheek. "I am not a liar, like you." As I flew to the floor from the force of his hit, he continued to kick and hit me while calling me fat and ugly. After finishing his rant, he roughly yanked me to my feet.
With a firm grip on my arm, he looked around our house.
"Go clean up, Cameron and Nash are coming over." Pausing to look at my cheek. "Go cover that up I don't want Cam, and Nash asking questions."
"Okay" I whispered.
First I went to the bathroom to cover up the bruise forming on my cheek. I touched it and winced, knowing that it would turn into a nasty bruise. I stared at myself in the mirror. I looked different, but I couldn't place what it was. I lifted up my shirt and poked at my stomach. Yes it was bigger than when I started college, but that wasn't it. I looked closer at my face. Then I realized what it was, all the happiness was gone from my eyes. I sighed, finished my makeup and went downstairs hoping to avoid Max.
I cleaned up the empty living room, and moved any trace of me from the room. While Max loved me he said that his followers get angry when they think that he's dating someone. The last time I asked to be in his videos I had bruises on my arm for a week.
"Hey babe" I tensed when I heard Max calling me.
"Yes?"
"Could you make something for Me, Nash, and Cameron?"
"Sure" I replied relieved that I would only need to put some chips in a bowl then go to my office. I finished cleaning up then went upstairs to my office.
I was an assistant editor for some extra spending money. I loved doing this, and it's the reason why I'm an English Major. I worked on the book that my boss sent over for thirty minutes and got lost in the story.
The doorbell rang, and I jumped. I distantly heard from my office Max greet Nash and Cameron.I was trying to think back on the last time I had seen Cam and Nash, I realized that I had never seen them other than a screen. I debated going downstairs to see them, but I didn't want to risk Max's anger.
"Rose, can you come downstairs?" I was shocked that Max wanted me to come downstairs. Whenever he invited anyone over to film he told me to go upstairs, because he said that he didn't want me to deal with his friends comments.
I came down and yelled "Where are you?"
"In the kitchen" a slightly familiar voice replied.
I walked into the kitchen and saw Cameron, and Nash face to face for the first time. They were both a lot cuter in real life than in their videos.
"Hey I'm Rose" I said introducing myself
"I didn't think you were real!" Cameron replied.
"What?"
"Max is always talking about his perfect girlfriend, and how she is this and that. But whenever we wanted to see pictures of her, he would always make up some bullshit excuse. I can't wait to tell everyone else."
I was hurt by the fact that Max never showed his friends a picture of me. Was I not good enough for his friends I wondered.
"They aren't bullshit excuses, I just haven't taken any pictures of Rose."
That was strange considering that for a while one of Max's favorite pastimes was taking candids of me.
"I'm Nash by the way"
"I already knew that" then realizing how creepy that sounded I backtracked. "Not in like a creepy, just that Max talks about you a lot."
Nash laughed and said "It's okay, I get that a lot."
"Anyway" I said relieving the tension "nice to meet you." I held out my hand to shake.
"Are we in a nursing home? Come here." Cameron pulled me into a hug, and I basked in the warmth of Cam. Than Nash pulled me into a another bone crushing hug. However I pulled away fast after I saw Max's angry look at me and Nash.
"So what did you call me over for?"
"Cam, and Nash wanted to meet you, and I had something to tell you."
"Okay"
"Cam and Nash are going to stay with us for a few weeks while their condo is being renovated. So I need you to make some room in your office."
"But I need to work in my office" I argued.
"You just need a computer, it's not that big of a deal."
It hurt that Max saw one of my favorite things in the world to do was just something on a computer.
"If it's too much trouble I'm sure I could stay at Jacks house." Cameron said.
"No its fine, just let me clear my office."
As I left to clean, I thought I felt Cameron and Nash gazes on my back. I forgot about it as I went upstairs to go make space for him in the only place I felt safe in my home.
A/N: The new cover was made by my friend Meghan! Go check out her story "How It Happened". And yes I know that Nash and Cameron don't live together.
