Faris walked into the village, walking past the sign that reads 'Tsac', worn out wood giving the sign a sad look. As if it has been there from times innumerable. Hades looked around the town. There was pieces of wood laying around, he guessed from broken houses. Hades looked down in guilt. This was probably his fault. Or at least a Krills'. The deeper he and Faris walked into the village, the more worse Hades felt. His head never looked up, never looking around the village. If he had, he'd notice the stares he'd get. From people who wondered what he was doing here. Death glares, looks of concern and confusion. Hades recoiled in his own skin. He wanted this to end. For him to leave.

Soon enough, they reached a house which resembled the others. How Faris could tell it was his family's house and not some other's still boggles Hades' minds to this day. Faris pointed towards the door of the house, signaling for Hades to come closer. The krillshifter hesitantly did so, standing beside Faris in front of his parents' doors.

As Faris knocked, the two heard footsteps walking over towards the door, inside the house. They heard the sound of a lock opening. Then two, then three.

Finally, the door opened. Behind it, the sight of Faris' mother stood guarding the entrance. The woman's eyes naturally first fell upon her son, arms wrapping around him in a warm and welcoming embrace. Faris smiled into the hug, head rested on his mother's shoulder.

After the hug dissolved, Mirika's eyes fell onto the krillshifter next to his son. Her once warm expression instantly became one of shock. "Faris- Wh-what is... Who is that?!?" She asked, fear evident in her voice. She took a step back, standing in front of the entrance to their house again.

"Oh, this is Hades!" Faris stated, signaling towards his new friend. The said person wearily waved their hand. Eyes holding a fear of their own, as if he knew he didn't belong here.

Mirika looked towards the krillshifter and his son. Somewhere in the new kids' eyes, he felt a loss. 'Maybe this is why Faris befriended them...' Mirika thought, face going from fear to thoughtful now.

"How long have you known him for, Faris?" Mirika asked, now looking towards his son with a questioning look. She needed to make sure that Faris wasn't forced into this. "And what made you think it'd be okay to bring him here?" Mirika ended the sentence, glaring at her son. Hades' eyes kept swapping. Looking towards Faris and then Mirika. The krillshifter absent mindedly walked closer to Faris' side, feeling safer towards him.

Mirika noticed that action, then glared towards Hades, eyes filled with hatred. Hades gulped.

"I met him outside. During my wax collecting," Faris said, truthfully. Looking towards his mother. "I believe he's no threat to the village. In fact, I think he'd help us." Faris stated, not moving his gaze on his mother.

"And how do you possibly think that Faris?!? He's a krill. He's like all the others. No krill is different." Mirika practically growled towards her son. "Did you forget what one did to your own father?!" Her eyes were practically red, filled with so much rage.

"No. I very well remember..." Faris said, voice going from stern to small in a matter of mere seconds. Hades looked towards Faris, eyes filled with pain. 'So, my own kind killed his father? No wonder his mother hates me...' Hades thinks, looking towards the parent.

Mirika stared at his son,  eyes giving a cold stare. "Faris. I suggest you drop Hades from were you found him. If you don't, I'm afraid I'll have to kick you out of the village." She stated. Faris could detect no emotion. Not in her face, or her voice. Faris looked up at her, tears welling in his eyes.

"You don't mean that. You could never kick me out of the village. This is my home..." Faris mumbled, but Mirika stood grounded. Unfazed. "Then drop Hades. Forget about him. Otherwise the whole village... including me... will see you as a traitor." Mirika spoke, poison and venom spitting out of her words. They cut deep into Faris, making him reel over, hands and knees on the coarse sands beneath him.

He didn't want to leave his new friend. Elder knows why, but he refused to do it. Maybe it was because of the warm feeling that the krillshifter brought. A promise of moving on from the war that happened before. But, would he really pick a stranger he just met over his own family?

Faris' eyes welled up, staring at the ground before him. He might. He really might.
