Chapter 6 - Yui's Past

The office grows silent as Sam holds her phone, staring at Kareen's contact photo on the screen. A smile spreads across her face as she looks at the adorable picture of Kareen, with her eyes closed and making a peace sign. Sam chuckles to herself, finding the photo endearing.

Across from her, Ereen rolls over and gazes at Sam.

"You two seem really close," Ereen comments, her tone laced with annoyance.

Sam is momentarily startled by Ereen's remark, causing her to jump. She quickly realizes it's just Ereen and sighs with relief.

"Not really," Sam retorts. "Today is the first time we've actually had a conversation."

Sam turns to face Ereen, lowering her phone.

"It may seem that way, but..." Ereen's voice trails off, her tone softer, almost vulnerable.

Sam notices Ereen's change in demeanor, realizing that she doesn't appear as hostile as usual.

"I'm sorry for... you know, punching you," Sam says softly, her head tilting to the side.

Ereen sighs and rolls back over, facing away from Sam.

"It's not a big deal. I punched you too," she replies bluntly.

Sam turns back to Ereen, observing her as she lies facing the other way. She frowns, trying to comprehend why Ereen seems so down if it isn't solely because of their fight.

"E-Ereen, are you okay?" Sam asks, direct and concerned.

Sam cuts to the chase, openly inquiring if something else is bothering Ereen. She anticipates a sharp response, but Ereen's next words catch her off guard.

"If I tell you, will you promise not to tell anyone?" Ereen's voice is muffled by the blanket covering her mouth.

Completely taken aback by this vulnerable side of Ereen, Sam sits and stares at her, momentarily unable to process this sudden shift in personality.

"I promise I won't tell anyone. This will stay between us," Sam assures her.

Ereen, anxious about revealing her past with Kareen, takes a deep breath. She opens up to Sam, sharing everything, including her true feelings for Kareen and the resentment she harbored due to Kareen's lack of understanding. As she explains, Ereen lies beneath her blanket, waiting for a response from Sam. Her anxiety intensifies, fearing that Sam might mock her or, worse, expose her secret.

Sam suddenly gets up out of her bed and walks over to Ereen. Ereen hears her movements and rolls over slightly to see Sam making her way over to her bed.

"H-Hey! What are you doing?" Ereen asks frantically.

Sam sits down on Ereen's bed. This causes Ereen to sit up, blushing and confused by what Sam is doing.

"G-Get out of my-"

Sam hugs her suddenly, her arms completely enveloping Ereen. Ereen's face was in shock at the sudden affection, her arms in the air, not sure what to do. Sam's eyes are now closed and she smiles brightly while holding Ereen.

"It's ok Ereen," Sam says comfortingly. 

"I understand why you are hurt. I want to help."

These few kind words are overwhelming to Ereen, and sobs lightly, her arms now wrapped around Sam. The two now sit hugging each other, while Ereen sobs gently, her face pressed against Sam's shoulder.

"I'll help you Ereen, I know what it's like to have those feelings."

"But I was-" she sniffles, "I was so mean to you..."
