Warning!: Very short chapter!
The next day ay sobrang aga kong nagising. I immediately took a bath and wore my uniform. My sister doesn't have class today because her teacher will go to a seminar. It was too early and I think Jasmin and Nicholai are still not ready so I’ll go first. Besides, I don't want to keep getting free rides. Nakakahiya na. Gustong gusto kong kasama si Nicholai palagi sa school ang kaso... masakit rin.
He’s nice and almost perfect but unfortunately... he doesn't love me like I do to him.
I wore my bag and bid mom goodbye. She gave me 70 pesos and it was more than enough. Naglakad ako patungo sa highway at medyo malayo. Nadaanan ko ang bahay nila Nicholai and sarado pa iyon. He's probably still sleeping.
“You were planning to go without me?” I gasped in shocked when Nicholai came out of nowhere.
“W-what?” my heart beats twice faster than usual. He shocked me at the same time, he’s making me nervous just by his presence.
“Tsk.” he then grab my bag and put it on his shoulder. “Don't dare to do that again, Nic.” I nod.
We came to school earlier than usual so when we arrived on our classroom, nobody was there yet.
“So, what did the three of you did yesterday? You hanged out?” he asked me after I sat. “Kinda?”
His face turn stoic. “Details.” I bit my lips. Nagseselos ba s’ya?
“We ate lunch together so yeah, we kinda hanged out but that's it.” I said then bite my lips. He’s scary!
“Fine.”
Unti unting nagsidatingan ang mga kaklase namin, including Clark, Rod, and Crystal. Clark and Rod’s faces were serious. I wonder what happened. Yesterday, they were too funny.
“Morning guys.” I greeted unconsciously. Both of them nod. I heard someone “psst” then I saw it was Crystal. Her face is teasing. I rolled my eyes on her.
“Here’s your book,” tiningnan ko ang librong iniabot niya. “Tapos mo nang basahin?” he nod. “Meron kabang book 2?” tumango ako.
“Yeah, nasa tita ko pa ngalang kasi nakalimutan kong hiramin ulit.” he nod.
“By the way, may ibibigay ako sa’yo.”
Nagtaka ako sa sinabi niya. He will give me something? I was about to asked him when he talk a paper bag from his bag. He handed to me. “B-bakit? I-i mean, it's not my birthday—” he stares at me with a deadpan look. I pouted and sigh before opening the bag and I immediately gasp when I saw what's inside.
“What?—” my mouth parted. It's a freaking photo album, and it has Selena's face on it. “How?—what?” I don't know what to say. I’m am so shock right now. Where? What? Gosh. “Nicholai, how? Where did you get these?” I asked him.
“Sa kakilala ko lang.” yun lang ang sabi niya. Kumurap ako at napanguso. “Let me pay for this.” I said without looking at him. Ramdam ko ang marahas niyang paglingon sa akin at mariing titig. “What do you mean?” he asked.
“K-kasi... s-sigurado akong binili m-mo ‘to...” sabi ko ng hindi lumilingon.
“Dapat lang talaga bayaran mo siya, mahal yan.” nagulat ako ng magsalita si Clark. Ngayon ko lang napagtanto na nakatingin pala silang dalawa ni Rod sa amin.
“I don't need her money just like you didn't need it, Trevor.” mariing ani ni Nicholai. “P-pero Nicholai...” I did my best not to blush while looking at him. Tumingin siya sa mga mata ko and I was immediately drown. I couldn't stop looking at his brown eyes. It's so mesmerizing.
“No buts, okay?” aniya sa malambing na boses at para akong nahipnotismo ng tumango ako. He smiled kaya napanguso ako.
Pa’no ko ba siya ma ko-kombinsi na bayaran?
The class started a moments later pero ‘di ako masyadong maka concentrate dahil sa presensya ni Nicholai at sa amoy niya. Grabe! Sobrang bango niya. Nakaka adik, kung pwedi lang langhapin lahat ng bango niya sa katawan ginawa ko na.
As usual, nang tumanghali ay sabay kami ni Nicholai kumain. Aayain ko sana si Crystal pero uuwi daw siya. Nicholai ordered foods for us but before he can pay, inabot ko na ang isang daang bill sa tindera. “Ako dapat—” I cut him off.
“Ako ngayon ang magbabayad. C’mon Nic, you gave me something worth way more than these. I want to do this. Okay?” his brows furrowed.
“I gave it to you without anything in return. ‘Wag kang mag isip ng kahit ano. I love paying for our foods just because. Also... I’m not used of you paying for my foods and I don't want to get used to it. I love to pay for us. Not the other way around.” I bit my lips.
“I understand... but... I also wanna do this.” he sigh and nod. “Then, we can you know... take turns?” I asked. He smile slightly and nod. “sige na nga.” he smiled and then he pinch my cheeks slightly making me blush. I wasn't ready for that!
We ate in silence, thank God. Because i don't think i can manage to take after what he did. I can't even look at him straight in the eyes. Nakakahiya talaga!!!
After eating lunch, we stayed for a few moments before heading to our classroom. Maaga pa kaya hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin ko. Wala naman ako sa mood para mag aral ng advance at ‘saka ayaw kong kausapin si Nicholai dahil sobra parin talaga akong nahihiya. Ang awkward ko tuloy!
“Nic...” napakurap ako sa kaba ng bigla niya akong kausapin. “B-bakit?” ba’t ako napautal? “You okay?” he asked me then walks towards me. Agad nanlaki ang mata ko at napaatras. His brows furrowed and then walk even faster then when he was just a foot away from me he grab my waist. “Nicholai...”
“Are you sick? You’re so red.” he ask then touch my forehead using the back of his hand.
“O-okay lang ako.” he sigh then nod and let go of me. “Tell me if you're not feeling well, okay?” I nod. I heard a “tsk” from somewhere at agad kong hinanap kung saan nanggaling iyon.
I saw Jennie with Niña looking on us. It's not a normal look. Tingin ‘yun nang naiinis or galit. Ewan, siguro both.
“Hi Clark! Rod!” bigla silang lumingon sa naglalakad na sina Rod and Clark na ang tingin ay nasa amin rin. Niña and Jenny are outside at nakaharap sa bintana while Clark and Rod are walking towards the door. They didn't greet Jenny back and she looked offended. I couldn't help but to smirk. But then, when i was about to greet the two. Huminto sila at tumingin ‘kay Nicholai ng sobrang lamig. Yung nakakakilabot na lamig.
Ano bang nangyayari sa tatlong ‘to?
“I regret changing my section. I shouldn't have listened to you the first day.” para akong nanlamig sa narinig. Bakit parang galit na galit si Clark ‘kay Nicholai.
“Ano bang problema mo Clark?” hindi ko napigilan ang sariling magtanong dahil sa inis.
“You. You guys are my problem.” aniya at umalis. Si Rod naman ay tiningnan ko at nakita ko ang bigla niyang paghinga nang malalim at agad na tumingin sa akin. Biglang lumambot ang kanyang mata.
“I give up.” he said then left.
Give up what?
