This is just a short small story there wont be a continuation which is why there's no cover.
Like I said in the description of this book, this is NOT connected to "The Aftermath of the Fire"
I just wrote this for fun a couple months ago and thought I should publish it
Now enjoyTW: Attempted suicide, substance abuse, and some Hen x Will stuff(?)
Last night was the worst night behind the night he found out Charlie was missing. The way William had told him with no remorse in his voice, was terrifying to him. He could only remember William saying "I killed Charlie anyways!" out of a rage. He never wanted to find out his own child was dead, It destroyed the small hope he still had for finding her. A simple fight let so many secrets out from William. Henry the sandy haired man could only cry and wish his daughter was still alive, he misses her smiles and laughter only wishing that he could be with her.
Before his wife had given birth to Charlie he had the bad habit of Smoking cigarettes. He worked on himself and stopped for Charlie's sake. He didn't want his child growing up in a home with a parent that smoked. If she had that type of father figure she would possibly also pick up the bad habit of smoking cigarettes as well. Sadly after years of not smoking cigarettes he had broken his streak of being clean. He found it as a way to cope with himself and for what happened. Even after finding out about Charlie's disappearance he still had hope she was alive and out somewhere in the world. But he can no longer think that knowing the knowledge he knows now.
More than anything he never wanted to see Williams face ever again. Eventually Henry's and Claire's marriage had been damaged after Charlie's disappearance, Claire had no hope that Charlie was still alive, but Henry did. This caused some arguments, in which caused them to divorce. Despite this they stayed good friends.
Although he knew this wasn't the correct answer to his sorrows and problems he drank the pain away. Months passed after that argument with William, and without knowing it, he had became and alcoholic. The pain was to much for Henry, He took a bottle of pills, and drank the last sip of whiskey he would ever have again. He downed all the pills slowly but surely, forgetting that today was the day he would have a visitor.
Claire came to visit on the 15th of every month. She knocked on the door, with no response. She knocked again, no response. She waited a while thinking he must be busy with something. She knocked one last time waited 30 seconds and had no response. She began to worry, she pulled out the spare key hidden in the plants that she had remembered putting there. She unlocked the door, and called out "Henry?"
She walked around the house and saw no sign of him, she walked into his room and saw him laying on the floor next to a capsule of pills and a whiskey bottle half empty. She examined the scene and realizing what he had done to himself screamed and ran to dial 911
She gave the operator the address. 7 minutes pass and the ambulance was there. They picked up Henry's body in a stretcher. Then drove him to the hospital.
Henry woke up in a hospital bed, he looked around and noticed the hospital nightstand filled with flowers. Unbeknownst to him one of them was from William. He heard a knock at the door. Claire walked into the room and was filled with anger
"WHY WOULD YOU TRY TO KILL YOURSELF?! I KNOW YOUR UPSET ABOUT CHARLIE BUT YOU HAVE TO MOVE ON."Henry was speechless not knowing what to say, there was no excuse for what he had done, other than him wanting to be with Charlie. Claire had no idea that William had murdered her, the cops haven't found out and he just never told the cops due to him not thinking about it until now.
"Are you going to answer me or not? If I didn't find you when I did, you would have died" She started to cry
Henry replied "I wasn't thinking straight, I wont attempt it again, I'm sorry.. Just don't cry please.."
Claire looked up and said, "You promise? Never again?"
"I promise.."
She wiped her tears from her eye's and started to calm down, then she mentioned someone that Henry hadn't seen since the fight. William.
"He's here to see you, I know you had a fight a while ago but, you're best friends. You cant just stay mad at each other forever. So I'm gonna step out now and let him come in alright?"
She walked out of the roomA million thoughts rushed through Henry's head, he had no idea what to say, or think about him coming here, and most of all he didn't know how to hide how afraid he was. Just the thought of him made his heart beat increase in speed. He breathed in and breathed out.
Then William walked in the room, without a second passing and without William saying anything. The heart monitor beeped faster when he walked in. William taking notice of Henry's beating heart, looked at Henry.
Then said, "I didn't know I was that scary Henry, calm down"
"Stay away from me."
"But I'm your beat friend. I came to make sure you were alright." He said
"Your not my best friend.. YOU STOPPED BEING MY BEST FRIEND THE MOMENT YOU TOLD ME ABOUT CHARLIE!" He said in Anger, with his heart still beating fast.William walked closer to henry, and whispered in his ear, " If that were true, then you would have told the police that I killed Charlie.."
Henry didn't know how to respond yet he still responded with a, "I just didn't feel like telling them"
"You know that's not true" William said while reaching under the blanket and touching Henry's crotch
Henry jumped as William touched him.
"We can have what we had before cmon, all the nights together and none of our wife's found out. They never really suspected us to do anything sexual to each other"Henry moved Williams hand, and said "Get out"
William smiled and said "I don't want to leave you in the hospital because of attempted suicide. I really care for you I cant just leave now"
"If your really cared.. you wouldn't have killed Charlie that night, you would have spared her life thinking about how much pain it would cause me. Yet you didn't, so get out."
"But-"
"GET THE FUCK OUT" Henry shoutedWilliam scoffed at Henry, and understood it wasn't the right time, so he giggled and waved goodbye with a smirk on his face.
Leaving Henry with an uneasy feeling, he didn't feel safe anymore. The way he giggled it was like he was telling Henry that Charlie wasn't the last person who'd die, and that he could possibly be next.
